What else are you going to do? You are essentially useless to the them unless you can master the holy grail of coffee carrying techniques, the 5 cup pyramid.

On an internship you will get more stuff to do over time. But in just a few days I would expect that you will just shadow and learn the routines and the processes that the desk goes through and why they do.


My housemate was conducting cleantech research from day one when he interned in private equity....

Not everyone is seen as just a coffee boy.

It was tongue in cheek, but I was mostly referring to S&T. Obviously other business areas permit greater involvement.
