They definately confirmed that we will finish at Queens. . . . I went to the open day for Stevo . . .and cant say I saw many Rahs! You think thats just at city?

I'm from a state school . . .how about you?

State higher education college, so even worse than a state school

Hopefully this won't effect the teaching level of our degree, what with the department being 50(?) miles away.

Where abouts you from Wai?

Not far, I'm from Kent/SE London a place called Bromley near Croydon.

I'm wondering how I'll get all my stuff to Durham, it's going to take aaaages.

And it'll mainly be heavy winter stuff . . . . think we may have to use my aunts 7 seater people carrier thing else it may have to be van hire or something . . . or maybe just a suitcase of clothes and get all the rest up there? Mainly bedding - what else are we gonna need . . .

We get fed twice a week, there is a Sainsbury's local 5 mins away and I'm guessing we buy our books from the preferred supplier or must be a second hand scheme at JCR?

It's going to be jumpers, coats and long-johns for me! Maybe some ski-boots too? I visited earlier this year when the snow hit and it was ridiculous up there.

I'm trying to convince the parents to let me drive up in the mini on my own, then one of them can come collect it via train and drive it back another day. I sincerely doubt they'll go for that though

I'm so excited to go yet I've lost all motivation to study - I currently have 12 past papers in front of me but can't bring myself to do any of them.

Ha, I cant see you getting much up in a mini? Plus, its a really long drive. We did it in about 3.5hrs up the A1 and I'm not sure I'd want to drive myself up there all that distance.

Did you consider asking for a parking space as I think they said there were some, although limited?

Hey, did you see this thread? Durham firmers?

I start my exams on Monday and I so need to get off snooping in here!
Has anyone ever got crap because their biomed course is at a "low" uni? :/

It's one of the new minis, so its not one of the old small ones. My dad would never let me drive his old mini! He loves it more than he loves me :P

Thinking about what to take, I have a mahoosive TV that I'm undecided on - do I really need a 42" screen in my room? Plus where will I put it...

I just posted on it, that seems quite cool.

Trying to organise a moving in day drink up at the JCR, get everyone out to know each other!!

Nice motor! Love those new minis
TV - 42inch??? - good luck getting that up there + you gotta pay for a licence. I have a 32inch and I'd not bother taking that up.
I'm sure there will be loads of opportunities to socialise

Just taking a break from revision - maths C3 Monday but I'm really struggling with C4 thats on Thurs.

How are you getting on?

Hah the new mini needs a new bonnet and bumper atm, some idiot reverse parked into it.
Just spent the morning with the GF so now on to revision, Bio 4 Monday, got a C first time round :frown:

Yeah I suppose I'll leave it at home, it would only act as a distraction.

I have Chem 4 thursday/wednesday which I'm REALLY worried about, I do find it hard. I suppose it's just a matter of putting in the time. Got any awesome notes on Chem 4 or 5? I'd forever be in your debt...
bio 4 WAS SO HARD in january hopefully it wont be so this time round

I've had my head down for Maths C3 first thing tomorrow morning but mainly Biology F215 for tomorrow afternoon - there is so much in the bio module, I cant even think about Chem right now . . . . although I'd started revising a while a go, stuff I thought I learnt, I can no longer remember . . . there is nothing like a bit of pressure to make your mind go blank! eeeek! I need an A for bio as its probably my only hope for my conditional. No way, I'd get an A for Chem or Maths! To be honest, I'm not sure I can pull that A for bio now . . . . there is so much to remember and I'm stressing.

Did you do Bio 4 in Jan? The post above said it was real hard!

Sometimes the chem threads have folks that are kind enough to post up their notes. There were some in bio!

Good luck . . . . its been raining all day here so I dont mind being stuck in revising!

Yeah Chem is going to be hard, I was revising it until about 2 last night. I sat bio 4 in Jan, it was very hard. I think I managed a C so I'm resitting. My A will come from English probably. My AS grades are Bio - B/B, Chem - A/B, English A/B.

I have some circumstances that I need to tell Durham about though, mother was ill and underwent surgery in both january and june exams, so hopefully if i miss my grade with like BBB they will be lenient.

I woke up, had breakfast and got ready to sit into some revision when my brother came back from his RAF base, sat himself infront of that dreaded 42" in my room and started playing xbox. Hopefully he'll go soon and I can get my head down for Bio.

lol i wanted to as well but i don't think anyone can anymore

anyone else as confused about careers as me? i started reading up because i was told i should get a placement/experience asap (i'm 1st year biomed btw). apparantly jobs aren't there for biomeds where I live so i reeeeeeeeaally need to get in somewhere. looking at prospects.ac.uk i'm sooo confused now though. i wanted to somehow get into neuropathological research including microbiology in the neurology field. i'm just feeling like uni's should give more support so we actually have a fair idea of where we're going and exactly how to get there.

so yeh, i'm just feeling like a headless chicken atm. anyone got advice please?

I would also like to know about job prospects in Biomedical science, it is a competitive market out there?
what makes people stand out from others and how much does it matter on which university you did your course?

I am a mature student and I love my course, but like a lot of you I am worried about work experience/placements and what the future will hold for me......I dont want to be stuck in a legal office answering the phones for the rest of my life :-(

Its great to read about everyone at different stages.
