no idea what kind of equation you are trying to use. :frown:

Lol don't worry, i think i just thought it was too simple to be 0.4 so tried to complicate it! Seems like it's 0.4 though!

becuase it said for THIS black male and a white cat....

THIS black male must = genotype Bb
and white cat must = genotype bb

so the crosses are 50% black, 50% white = 50:50 = 1:1 ....

ALSO

for the first question did people put: The two parents have black fur but produce cats with white fur. therefore the parents must be heterozygous dominant. (this proves that the allele for white fur is recessive) ...

Surely if you cross Bb and bb you get Bb, Bb, Bb, bb... 3:1?

but yes I put the same for the bold bit

I was convinced this exam would have plenty of respiration, but it didnt! So i spent 2 days learning them bloody cycles and reactions for nothing!
Anyone on the first ATP question as to why it is efficient in humans (or whatever) I put it is soluble so it is an immediate source of energy, and that it only requires one reaction.. made them up tbh!

The first part which asked two reasons for ATP being awesome they were:
Releases energy insmall manageable quantities
Releases energy immediately as hydrolysis of ATP is single reaction

when you cross Bb and bb you get gametes of B,b,b,b

crossing these gets Bb Bb bb bb so its 1:1

t 1:1 ratio. You get Bb Bb bb bb

thats exactly what i putttt

and equation i got : ATP + Pi + Energy = ATP

ATP uses in biological processes: Used for glycolysis to then produce even more ATP. used in muscle contraction for movement. used in active transport (eg. nutrients in the gut) ...

I didn't think the paper was too bad, made a few silly mistakes though I think.

What did everyone get for the questions relating to mites and feathers and breeding etc??

i thought the equation was just ADP add pi = ATP

For the next part I put ATP only releases small amounts of energy so a lot of ATP is needed. Processes include maintaining a high body temperature (higher than out side) and movement specifically muscle contraction

i put energy can be released in a single hydrolysis reaction then immediately reformed in a condensation reaction duno if its right though.

Ah my days, I seriously need to learn to check over stuff :| but thanks

That's because it is ADP+Pi=ATP.

any one got an unoffical mark scheme ?

what did evryone write for the great tit brids questions ?
Reply 973
what did anyone write for the null hypothesis? I don't even know what it is.

What youve written is more correct and more acceptable although they both are because it is frowned upon to write energy in an equation. But both are correct.

there is no relationship between number of feather mites on birds feathers and the breeding success. Something along those lines would be acceptable

you use it in the ISA

I think that went alright! Thought it was easier than the Jan paper, but hopefully grade boundaries aren't too high!
The last long answer questions were lovely  although the feathered mites...not so :P

Of course that is correct.

im sure it includes energy in the textbook? but yeah they are both right.
