Everyone who has asked should have it.

As much as I love procrastinating I need to get some revision done so I can't send it to anyone else. If you need it try to get someone else to forward it to you.

I sent you a pm did you get it :s-smilie: ?
What's everybody thinking for how much to write for this?

6 marks = 2/3's page?
8 marks = 1 page?
10 marks = page and a 1/3?
15 marks = 2 pages?
Reply 85
well i think its like a minute and a half per mark so more go on timings?
6 marker - 9mins
8 - 12mins
10 - 15mins
15 - 23ish?

depends on how fast you can write too

Just found out a potential question "To what extent can international agencies lift people out of extreme poverty/reduce effects to climate change" .. any ideas? :s-smilie: because theres not much in the AIB about it

hey, i know it's not specifically on the DFID but there is a section on poverty and another on climate change which you might find useful http://www.ausaid.gov.au/country/cbrief.cfm?DCon=1717_6421_2054_9404_9394&CountryID=10&Region=SouthAsia

And with reference to the AIB i would talk about the schemes in general. But more for poverty than climate change.

I just found some information on floating crop gardens in Nehalpur, Bangladesh. As a result of climate change and water consuming more land they have started growing vegetables in the water. It only takes a month to grow veg, when on land it takes 3 months. They say the water is much better than land: "We are experiencing a brilliant future"
Could i use this as an advantage of climate change??

Evening guy, just joined TSR for some last minute advice for the morning, already found some useful stuff. Thanks!

My teacher says each question will be on these topics:
1. fieldwork/ research
2. the issue
3. effects/ impacts
4. conflicts/ resolution
5 evaluate/ reason/ judge

Not sure if this is any help, these are the links i've found most useful:

I think it's a combined question and answer booklet so it will give you enough space!
Guys do you reckon spearmans rank or standard deviation will come up? Also how do you draw a chloropleth map?

oh it's not that, i mean how do i know what length i should be writing for the marks in the exam time

spearmans rank possibly?? im not too sure tbh. choropleth map is just on a normal map colour coding each area.
for example in P1, colouring in each district according to death toll, divide the scale up into bands e.g. 1-4, 5-8 deaths etc and using different shades (light to dark) for each section.

Is someone able to send me the ZigZag answer book? Would be very much appreciated!
My teacher said we should look up 5 case studies on the DfiD website, which i've done, but is this going too far? Or do you think we actually use this information or just the stuff we have in the booklet? like the chars and scuba rice and CARE stuff?

Have some questions from the zigzag booklet that i have noo idea how to do :'( (most of them)

anyone have any idea?

- What is local cautionary signal number 3?
- is there a pattern in the spread of deaths?
- to what extend do you think there was an adequate healthcare response to the cyclone?
- DdlD has identified 'making the government more effective' as an objective - what are the current problems with the government?
- why did Sidr have a greater impact than Aiyla?
- why is prevention of flooding almost impossible?

Thanks

Ive got that booklet too.
Sorry if someone has already answered you ..

Local cautionary signal number 3 is 'The port is likely to be threatened by squally weather it may experience sever weather from a squally wind of 40-50kph' Basically Bangladesh has 5 signals they send out.

There are more deaths around the west of Bangladesh bordering India as that was the path of the cyclone but there were also a lot of deaths at Noakhali because it borders the River Megna.

Prevention of flooding is almost impossible because Bangladesh is so low lying also as climate change gets worse so will the amount of natural disasters therefore Bangladesh will get hit more often. Also it is difficult to prevent because land that is used is most likely to be farmers land which they will not want to give up, plus some flooding is needed for the crops therefore you can't completely stop it.

Sorry i haven't answered the others this is all i could remember off the top of my head, hope it helps.
