yes it was my first choice, but I will be in my second year of uni already

Ahh cool mines w.2.14.106. I ahve no idea what that means. Maybe second floor, lfat 14 room 106?? How come you didn't get any of your 3 the first year>

W stands for Willow court
and then you're right - floor, flat and room.

there is no guarantee that you will get any of your choices, they warn about that. I know many people who didnt get any of their choices.

Right I am having second thoughts now of taking BEconSc.. I do love Maths but I dont get A*s all the time, and the fact that BEconSc is really mathematical then this could affect my chance of getting a first, let alone a 2i. So I have two questions, what did you get on your A level Maths - C1-C4 and S1/S2 units? How hard are/were the Maths question for BEconSc?

Not only am I finding the Maths question quite daunting, but also I just realised that BEconSc won't have a lot of Finance units in it (correct me if I am wrong). I am hoping to get into Investment Banking/Consultancy and I think you don't need a really depth knowledge of Mathematics. BEconSc I think is geared more towards those who want to get into Bank of England, IMF, World Bank, correct? I do want to go to World Bank (but later on my career)- but I want to earn money straight after Uni to pay the loan. Yes - driven by money , I am. :/ Thoughts (and anyone)?

Use this, this tells you near enough every course for the BEconSc available to you throughout the three years. Also the Final year allows specialisation in one of three areas, one being financial Economics. Also with the Financial side in my opinion, the more maths you've done the better.

I got A's in all my Core Maths modules, usually around the high 80's and got a C in my S1, did D1 not S2. The maths, at least in first year is not too daunting if you do the work.

Again thanks.. I have talked to BEconSc graduates (stalked them on the internet lol) and most of them suggested that BEconSc is really good.. It really helped them forward their career in Finance (well that's what they say). They said to take Econometrics if Rolf/Ralf something like that is teaching it.

I never thought that you can get a First even if you got a Third in your other modules. What matters is that by the end of your degree, if your average is near a First.. you should get awarded that. (Correct me if I am wrong).

Pretty excited now - really have to work hard. Though obs, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Hopefully Mancs got a lot of societies that I can join in to. :smile:

As you are studying Economics, can I ask how hard it was? And what were the results of your exams (uni)? Though I will be taking BEconSc - I don't think there is much of a difference during first year. Many thanks.

Try maybe Richmond or Sheavyn in Fallowfield or Victoria Halls
Right quick question, how are degree honours awarded? What I meant is that so like there are 20 students studying BEconSc. 10 of them achieved 80%+, 8 of them 60%+ and 3 of them 50%+. That means no one gets ordinary degree (or Third). Will this be possible? OR is it like GCSE/A-levels that it should only be the top 10% of BEconSc students to get First, next 20% getting 2i, so on and so forth? If it is the latter, will it be top 10% students of the whole Uni? Or top 10% students per degree?

So on my offer it only says 1.40 - So is that only floor and room or what is it ?

the core modules (which are the same for BAEcon and BEconSc) are ok - maths, stats and econs are all an enhanced version of the A-level syllabus of those subjects, nothing is that hard. you should do fine as long as you bother to study.

I got a high 2.1 for Maths (got B at A-level), a high 2.1 for micro and the rest of exam were in June, so the results arent out yet

Oh wow.. Well done! So it is manageable. Well obviously I will work hard at Uni but at the moment I am still in gap year mode. Might need to refresh meself of Economics terms etc.

Ermmm which discipline are you going to specialise?

I'm going to specialise in Economics :smile:
dont worry, you wont find it difficult to switch from gap year mode to study mode! as long as you do the work everything will be fine :smile:

Does anyone know if Undergrads and Post grads are put into the same flats in halls that have both? I assume not because they have different occupation times. But I'm still curious.
