Apologies to the massive mega-quote. I couldn't remember from page to page who I had already quoted :/

So If I create a fantasy football league for us guys on NFL.com and set the draft date at a decent time, how many of you guys would be interested? I can get round to doing it in the next couple of days...

NFL.com leagues have a decent amount of customization options, so essentially they are up to us.

I would imagine the default scoring system would be perfectly adequate.

I'm in favour of a live draft, and those who can't make it can just have an auto-picker do it for them by ranking players.

Playoffs would be top 6 teams (presuming we get about 8-10 teams playing.

And I would go for what I usually do which is simpler and IMO better, in that we have 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 SPECIAL TEAMS , 1 DEF and 6 BENCH.

These are just my suggestions though. Although I would be the commissioner, I'm willing to use whatever rules, scoring systems etc that we all agree on as a whole...

I see. Well I am one of the people that knows least about the game I would imagine so I am happy to go with what others think is best. Will the pick order be decided randomly?

It can be, or I can decide.

As an idea (one you may favour ) would be that those of us who know the most pick later, and those that know less will pick earlier.

Seeing as those of us who know more will fair better when it comes to substitutions and picking players off waivers, it might help to level the playing field if the players with less knowledge have a headstart!

Just a shout though..
FANTASY FOOTBALL

Now I have your attention...

Anyone who didn't get a PM about a Fantasy Football league between us guys who wants find out more and play in it can PM me.

id say it should be a random if we can, as although those of us with more knowledge may be able to find some gems that the less knowledgeable may over look and get a more solid team as a whole, but I think letting the others pick who everyone knows are the top players is a bit of an unfair advantage :/ just keeping things random is the only way to be really fair, plus there is lots of advice for people with less knowledge on nfl.com if they need it

http://www.nfl.com/fantasy

i know you probably already thought of this and before anyone else says it I know that nfl.com blog opinions can be far from accurate

However this is good for anyone that dosnt know much about the game, the rankings option within there especially is good for giving you an idea of who the better players in fantasy terms have been, although this is far from a guarantee they will repeat

and a little advice from me personally
ive always noticed the main position to go early is running back, but if possible you want a running back from a team that focuses on using one back rather than sharing the carries, as less carries are less chances for yards and touch downs.

When picking a receiver its worth considering more than how good the receiver is for example fitzgerald may be a great but until arizona get a better option at quarterback i will be staying away form him, equally same goes for tight ends (who you want to be a recieving tight end rather than a blocking specialist)

Quarterback vick will be hot as he can get you a lot of rushing yards not just passing, less of a risk than last year when at this point he was just a back up but remember if he gets injured running about you need a decent person waiting on your bench, also consider not just how good the quarterback but the team as a whole and the strategy - good recievers are less likely to drop passes, good o line is less sacked so more likely to get positive yards, awful defence is good for the qb as the team is more likely to have more throwing plays if it has to play from behind a lot, equally bad running back means more throwing possibly

special teams these are all pretty much what you would expect, they are less impacted by other positions that many other positions

kicker mainly just about how good the kicker is but also if their team can move the sticks up the field but struggles as they get closer to the end zone you will find them relying more on the kicker and getting you points

defence again mainly just how good is the defence, but also consider the offence...if its a ball control offence that runs the clock and minimises the time other teams have on offence then that means the other team will have less time to attack your defence, making it more likely they will get you more points by holding opponents to a low score

bench consider most single player positions rather than a spare defence, also if you have a player more likely to get injured have a back up, bye weeks as well as if your main player has a bye week you dont want a back up who has the same bye week or you will struggle to get someone decent off waivers to play that position just for the week and you would have to get rid of another player to claim off waivers anyway, you may also see your bench as a chance to take some risks either on a rookie you think has potential or someone you think may finally break out

all positions maybe consider schedule, you dont want lots of offence that will all the toughest defences in the season, some may argue a great but not elite level player can have a better fantasy season if they also have the weaker schedule

if anyone has any questions then feel free to ask
