Is there such a thing as forenic nursing?

I don't mean forensic custody nursing that one uni offers but a nurse that specialises in - sexual abuse cases, other abuse cases, evidence collection, working on dead bodies, an expert witness etc

Awesome! Good luck with that, I think we truly have chosen the best careers, MH is an interesting branch of nursing, if I wasn't doing Learning Disabilities Nursing, my second choice would definately be Mental Health! What uni are you hoping to go to?

I'm so jealous of everyone with unconditionals. I won't know until next week whether i'm going to uni or not! Just want to know now, i've got a feeling i've gotten my hopes up for nothing.

I'm hoping to do adult nursing at Stirling univeristy

When I first decided on MH nursing I wanted to work in substance misuse, but sine working in care and support of older adults, I quite fancy Dementia Care. I think I'll see what doors are opened for me

Working on dead bodies? That would be a Pathologist and an Anatomical Pathology Technician, not a nurse. ( I used to be an APT)

I know of mental health nurses and adult nurses who work in forensic nursing.

Do you know if you can still work in a forensic mental health setting without being a qualified nurse or social worker?

Do you have to be qualified nurse to get into this sort of thing?

I'm been looking at a post graduate course in forensic mental health but haven't come from a typical nursing background, so i dont know if i will be able to get a job in this field after.

Thanks
