Nothing been put on the website yet but keep your eye out. My email talks about deregulation of fees and was verbally told that basically if we didn't get fee difference this year we would be tied into paying £2895 p.a. and this would put us at a financial disadvantage versus those entering in 2012 who would be paying less.

Nahh. I'm happy with My UKCAT and still have beef with liverpool from the open day I went to.

Taught me how to persevere though, had to teach myself how to write again with no support etc etc etc. Badly affected my GCSE's and that meant I didn't get a look in most places last year.
Tl;Dr: not re-applying to Liverpool. Applying to Leeds, Barts, Peninsula and Glasgow.

They should definitely have let you off for your GCSE's, your circumstances sound pretty extreme to me! and it's really impressive that you've recovered without help. I have to admit that sounds very unfair of Liverpool.

677.5 this year. My whole profile's on my profile.
Leeds are good if your UKCAT isn't that strong since they only use 1 bonus points (out of a possible 47) and that's for a 700+ average.
I've put their whole selection criteria in the applicants thread I started.
On that system I got 9/16 for academics with my mit circ taken into account.
It's ok I think I should have got the support. It isn't liverpool's fault I didn't get the support. And any medschool has the right to be picky in who they chose.
When I did my arm in though tbh I didn't know I was entitled to support. My school's just get on with it attitude made me think that that's what I had to do.
Untill I got to college I didn't realise how badly it had affected me (the whole not being able to move my arm and being told I wouldn't use it again thing aside) untill I got to college and reflected on it.
Then again, Hindsight is 20-20.
What's your profile like?
And sept doesn't really give you all that long to decide where you're gonna apply unless you allready have an idea. I'd start looking into options now and making a If my UKCAT is X then YYYY If my UKCAT is Z then AAAA or whatever list, then it's a case of just filling it in on UCAS.

I see! Well I hope you get the fee difference for 2011 entry as that would be pretty harsh!! Keep us posted if you can.

I'll have a look at Leeds then. I didn't even know they had a point system! That's really useful cause it gives you an idea of whether you stand a chance.
If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your arm to injure it so badly?
My profile - in my GCSE's I got 9 A*'s and 1 A. In AS I got 4 A's, and as for A2, we'll all know soon ... I have sufficient work experience I'd say, now I think I really need a good UKCAT score. Last year I got an average of 620 and that too with a lot of practice. I think I sort of panicked midway. DA used to be my best section and I got 590 in that ... I messed up. Wow your average sounds pretty good!
I knowww, I kind of realise that Sept is near the deadline ... but I'm not atm ready for the UKCAT. I kind of have an idea of where I want to apply : Liverpool and Manchester. And the other two really do depend on my UKCAT score. I will actually start looking into options now ... thanks for the advice
What are you hoping to do in your gap year? I'm carrying on with volunteer work, trying to get a job! and doing some more work experience. Most of my friends are moving on to Uni

Pretty much my entire thoughts/activities at the moment.
So its going to be a brilliant week for me, UKCAT wednesday, then results thursday. OH BOY, I LOVE STRESSSSSSS.

Got two jobs in the hospital ( medical lab assistant full time, Bank HCA)
carrying on with my volunteering.
And I'm also planning to have a good time as well as working lol.
Also If I work for 12 months from when I started I'll still get a 3 month summer.
Nice GCSE's and with A levels in hand you get a bonus of up to two points on their academics (/16).

In light of all the supposed changes to admissions process/selection criteria this year, i just wondered which of Barts & Manchester would be the most foolish to apply to (i'm picking one as a risky option)
Got 662.5 UKCAT, say i get AAAb (although predicted A*A*A) at A level. Got 4A*s, 5As and 1B at GCSEs. Been working as a HCA since july (not the only experience i have but it's the most recent, will not bore you with the rest)
I know they're both very risky enough as it is but i just want a rough idea about which one is the most risky (almost like i'm throwing an option away) before i start drafting my personal statement.

lolololol my ukcat's on tue, if we both die while at the pearson center then get atleast AAA on our results on thursday then we are official 2012 MEDICINE REAPP BFFE'S 4LYF 'cus we'll both have **** scores but together will find places for our sorry asses
Haha i know it's cnny stressful like... but then again saying that today's the first day ive started to feel worried about ukcat. lmao.
Either way, on thursday therell be a bottle of scotch for me to nurse when i get back from sixth form thatll either help to put myself into "party mood" or "lets drink till i die"

Haha yeah newcastle... I wouldnt mind hitting edinburgh up some time though, hey if ever you're in newcastle (whether it be oopen day or visiting uni friends) just hit me up and ill tell you all the best places and stuff... likewise for edinburgh or glasgow eh ?
Mmmh ukcat is alright, last year i worked by but off for 625av so this year i havent done anywhere near that and just done little bits and pieces because i realised its all just luck and chance and i know what im doing anyway... i hope. Fair to say me and VR aren't the best of friends. :|
Tbh if i get 2600 i'll be ove rthe moon. I'm easily pleased

Couldn't have done it without the doctors and physio's etc.
Seriously though it's why I wanna do medicine, During that time I was scared , didn't know what to do and though it was the end to my rugby (which it pretty much was for the time being hope to play again in Uni)
The doctors in my local hospital picked it up and packed me off to a specialist in London who sorted me through the whole thing. Physio's were brilliant and the staff at the hospital helped me when I was terrified.
I just didn't get any support with learning how to write, And My arm's a lot better now, it's just kinda healed slowly on its own.
It's the support I should have got at school that really let me down. Going to college was the best thing I ever did.
Uni's have results but only if you've firmed them or they're your insurance so only UCAS know mine :P.
And as for your second question:

search anything <20K p.a.(try and get in hospital roles, HCAing or direct patient contact is ideal, anything to get you in the environment really)
Then just scroll thing and apply for anything that tickles your pickle.
I applied for two receptionist jobs, the switchboard, the lab and a HCA.
the two receptionist jobs didn't get back to me.
Got interviews for the other three and got two of them .

450 UCAS points, that's good isn't it ?
I mean like four A's at A2 is 480 so you'll be above most applicants with that?
It's all speculation atm though, wait till results day, then decide.
I don't know how Mancs selection works I just know that I don't meet the entry req's

Would seem so but then you may get loads of applicants predicted 4A*s simply because of this new criteria and schools that weren't predicting A*s before will start to predict them (they haven't got anything to lose as the offer will apparantly remain AAA regardless)

I don't see a massive increase in the number of students taking four A2's this year though so the average UCAS points shouldn't shoot up too much ?
