I can imagine keeping milk, maybe sandwich ingredients, and alcohol. Be careful with the photos for scale: sometimes they use mini bottles and stuff to give the impression of more space.

Good point! However, I got a ruler and measured it out visually according to the dimensions given and I don't think they were miniature bottles. So it sounds to me as though 20 would do you fine, but of course it's up to you. I just mean that with the stuff you're planning on keeping, 50 liters should be NO problem at all. If in doubt, get your tape measure out

Mine's only 6 litres but it was expensive for a fridge that size because I just HAD to have the shiny blue one didn't I? It looks like it'll fit a few soft drinks and sandwich ingredients though and some milk which is really enough for me although it is much smaller than I'd expected.

Yeah, I was going to get the pretty coloured ones but then I sort of measured it out with some rulers, and I thought it might be a bit small. However, that's because I'm a fruit and veg maniac and I want to stuff it full of berries, bananas, apples, melons, carrots, celery, peppers and juice... as well as milk, butter and cheese. So I think 20 litres is right for me though it may well have been too big for some people!

I've been researching like crazy but the best thing I've found is a 20-litre one on Argos for £46.66.

Ebay sometimes has them cheaper but I'm not sure I want to buy a second-hand fridge, especially since the saving is usually only £5 to £10 and you have to drive to pick it up.

Curry's doesn't have them as far as I can tell, and all the dedicated minifridge websites are nearing £100.

I've already bought that Argos one. If you take the shelf out then height-wise it can easily fit in a bottle of milk, a 1L bottle of fizz or a bottle of wine. Plus there's plenty of room for other stuff too, including a pocket in the door.
I can take some pictures and give full inside dimensions if you want??

I love that Trinity solves this fridge problem for me by providing one in every room....

That would be so brilliant! Are you happy with it so far?

You guys have a cake rep, which is pretty much the only thing another college has that I'm properly jealous of. I heard the position was originally 'porn rep' until the college went coed. :p:

I haven't been using it properly yet. I just plugged it in for a few hours to check how cold it got, but it seems like it should be good
The manual says it gets about 20 degrees below room temp, so I'm considering getting a fridge thermometer to keep an eye on it but I'm sure it will be fine.
Also, the comments on Argos about the noise are a bit silly to me, it sounds like a desktop computer running (well, mine anyway, it is several years old :L) but I'm sure it won't take long to get used to.

I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow and post them up, along with inside measurements

Awesome! I'll probably be ordering it tomorrow since I'm going on holiday on Friday.

hiya guys! just stumbled onto this forum/thread while searching for a good mini fridge to bring to Oxford! It's a relief to see so many people worrying about EXACTLY the same things as I do. (even if it's something as trivial as finding a cheap personal drinks cooler).

Anyone here going to Oriel or reading BioMedSci?
Just to throw a spanner in the works, I get a fridge in my funky 60s style room. I went out today and bought a KETTLE!

There's an Argos (and a Currys) in Oxford; if I go with one of those I might try to order it for collection there, to save cramming the car with even more stuff to carry up. I'm in two minds as to whether to bring my cello that I haven't touched in about two years.

I've also found out that in addition to buying everything for uni, unpacking, repacking and meeting up with some TSR people in the four days between Berlin and Oxford, I also have to move rooms in my house, which I'd forgotten about. It's gonna be busy. :p:

That's awesome! Congrats on getting in!

you finished your math booklet yet? And, more importantly, did you get your freshers pack? I'm STILL waiting for mine... :s-smilie: I'm getting pretty worried.
And I feel terribly underprepared because I want to access that bloody biomed weblearn page... Oriel'd better hurry and send me my packet.

ONLY ONE MONTH LEFT EVERYONE!
