I'm going to the Friday afternoon showing - so excited! I've never read or seen it before, so I started reading it a few days ago and now I'm especially looking forward to seeing who they cast as Benedict and Don John (they're my favourites so far) Which day are you going? Do you know anyone else who is going? I haven't spoken to another English student yet c:

P.S. The poetry one was about £30 :c and my Norton Shakespeare came in the post today and its giant! About 3500 pages! I can't imagine how we're all going to haul it around this year.

Thought I'd randomly intrude on this conversation!

I was going to wait for enrollment and meeting a few people before I decided which showing I'd go to, but now I don't know whether to wait because I don't want all the tickets to sell out!

I've not read Much Ado either, so I guess I should! It's a bit awkward deciding what to read in advance because we haven't been given strict reading lists like I thought we might.

As a side note I'm expecting both my main textbooks tomorrow. I had no idea the Shakespeare one was 3500 pages though!

Anyway, I shan't ramble. I just thought I'd join in.

Yay more English people  Are you pure English, or joint?

Yeh, I just bought the books it said we had to have for English, not the suggested ones yet 'cos I'm running out of money. Drama didn't have any you had to have, so I'm leaving those for now

I don't think the tickets should sell out, 'cos they seem to have loads, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of people going on both nights. I just chose the Friday 'cos it was in the afternoon, that way I've got the evening free for socialising

Can't wait for my books to get here

Yeah, I pretty much did what you did! Although I managed to get a brand new Kindle from a friend for a ridiculously cheap price, so I've been able to get all (well... most!) of the suggested ones onto that for free, which has helped a lot money-wise. I just have a few coursepacks to buy when I arrive at Uni. Although how I'm going to be able to afford that before loans come in is beyond me! I also still have to buy a ticket for Much Ado. :frown:

Yeah, that seems the best plan, really. Also the lecture will still be fresh in our minds ready for the performance, which could help!

Are you moving in on Saturday? I feel dangerously unprepared! Aha.

Ah I'm pure English too! You're the first I've met so far c: I wish they would tell us what's actually in the course packs. I mean, spending so much money without knowing what's in them is really annoying.

You're so lucky with that Kindle - I've been trying to justify buying one for ages.

I've no idea what's in them either, nor what they cost. I presume it's segments of texts, perhaps? From Beowulf etc. At least that's what I thought, but I really have no idea.

And yeah! I got it for £45, so I couldn't say no. It's probably actually saving me money in the long run. Although, I do prefer actual paper. But oh well!

You're one of the few I've met doing pure English too, seems joint is far more popular!

I know, just buying the essential books, course packs and Much Ado ticket cost me about £50!

Yeh, I think it will be good to go to the lecture and then see the play straight after

Indeed I am, hopefully will get there around lunch time, but I'm coming from Cornwall so God knows what time I'll actually get there  What about you? And what accomodation are you in btw?

I haven't bought the course packs yet. :frown: How much were they?

I'm planning to get there around lunch as well! But I only have a 3 hour drive which is probably nothing compared to yours?!

I'm in Creed Court, which is apparently predominantly post-graduate housing, so I have no idea why they put me there. Que sera, sera. I guess! Which are you in?

I only had to buy two, but one was £4 and the other £8 if I remember rightly. From scanning down the page, I think the most expensive are £10. How many do you have to get?

Yeh, it'll be 6 hours at least... Should be fun  Feel sorry for my mum though... Where are you coming from? And I say planning, I'll probably rock up about 3, pissed off and tired. Damn traffic

Ah, strange... I'm in Ifor Evans  Annoying though, I've found loads of Ifor Evans people on Facebook, but not one in my flat... :frown:

I think I only need a few, and that doesn't sound too steep so I guess that's okay. Not that I can afford anything else until loans come in, especially if I want to eat. Aha.

I'm coming from Nottinghamshire, so just 3 hours or so north of London. But it's incredibly rural for the most part around here so London is going to be quite the change in scenery! I'm looking forward to it though! And I hear that. It seems ridiculous that we're only allowed to be parked on campus for twenty minutes too? I mean really, surely it'll take longer than that?!

I haven't found a single person in mine either! Saturday will be an interesting day.
