I can assure you that no JCR committee wants your week to be 'dead'.

Yes you will probably be set some work. Yes you may have some more formal aspects.

But yes you will have some great nights out.

We've spent a lot of time trying to come up with a great freshers week - balancing mandatory college meetings, day time social events and nights out/bops. I can't believe other committees haven't put the same effort in.

What may differ from other universities is that it is full on academically come the Monday of 1st Week.

Cheers for the re-assurance and that i'm just getting jealous of all my friends pics from their freshers and thus going into a mild panic

i caught up with the latest univ challenge today. i'm not nearly as good as those guys, of course, but i knew 10-15%, i'd say. my inner geek is wishing my college participated right now

Well, if you track one contestant and see how many right answers they come up with, they probably get a similar amount to most of us. (Except the very rare encyclopaedic machines, usually from Magdalen.)
Has anyone else still not heard about the OOB? :frown:

EXETER people! I hope some of you will know this sine I, er, can't be bothered to go through all the piles of paper ¬¬

What time are we allowed to arrive and start moving our stuff in?

Fiona,

Rooms are available from one o'clock onward. I'll be getting there slightly early to a) join the queue and b) meet up with a few people I met at interviews, but the papers say one.

I don't know whether Keble participate, but I hope so. Appearing on UC = my life ambition. :colondollar: Not even kidding.
I've got a jazz + cocktails night planned  Glad it's not all clubbing!

After last night, I would argue that that is far preferable to watching your college lose :p:
What Freshers' events have you lot got with your college families? Apparently at Magdalen we eat a LOT of curry together.

Oh, I looked at the Michaelmas events for the Oxford Union recently. Wow, must join immediately.

Bad luck, you almost caught up in the end (assuming you're at St Anne's). Moody fought on valiantly! I heard from a friend there that he's a lovely chap.

We have an evening where we're supposed to have dinner with our families, don't think there's anything else necessarily planned. I got nice letters from my parents though.

I should get round to signing up for the Union too, actually.

Didn't realise Wadham had that, another way for me to waste the little money I have :frown:

Yep, St Anne's. Ahh yes Moody was great  Just nobody could compete with Pugh's buzzer speed (or his Girls Aloud knowledge...)

Katie Price is the first speaker! Johnny Depp is speaking too. Decent looking debates and parties too. I'd like to see how the 'should we abolish private education?' one goes. Actually I'd like to speak in it.

Yeah, I've read that, should be good. I'm hoping to get involved in the competitive side of debating too, although the amount of competition is a bit daunting. My dad nearly spoke in a debate on the two-state solution a year or two back. :p:

And just signed up! Ah, internet, you make spending £200 so easy.
