I actually wonder how long interviews are and how many (academic) questions they ask. anyone knows where to find more info on this? I'm applying for Maths&CS if that's relevant.

20-45 minutes, usually.
Hey all
I happened to have missed Oxford's 15th October 2012 application deadline :frown: is there any chance that I can still apply to Oxford? Do they consider late applications? Please help.

I'm afraid they won't unless you have a very good reason for missing the deadline.
None of the colleges will accept a late application?? Even if i have good grades (4 A's in AS and continuing all 4 subject to A2)? I dont have a very good reason for it to be honest, just had too much work from school. Its my fault for not thinking about it much earlier :frown:

No, they won't accept a late application. No chance whatsoever. Your only option is to reapply next year.

Then it's your own fault, you'll have to wait until next year to apply.

Sent application off last Fri (GMT+8)...yet to receive acknowledgment..Anyone else too?

Aww parents! It's so funny seeing all these keen parents being dragged around from college to college. Balliol was also so pretty but I didn't really fancy my chances seeing as it has like the second most applicants!

The piano is amazing! It's a grand <3 <3 ... not that I saw it in real life. Thanks panoramic views of colleges, win. But the gardens are lovely! Didn't see the hall or library or or anything! lots of building work going on around Oxford this year so thats probs why. Good to know! I wanted to see the accomodation! they used to have pictures up on their old JCR website but since they re-vamped it the catalogue of rooms is gone. Also I have heard of some Mertonians refer to their rooms as tents, so I'm guessing its just luck really.

There are 8 PPE-ists at Merton every year, or so they say

Balliol does look nice, but it didn't have everything I wanted

OMG grand piano! Yay!
Hehe I looked at the virtual tour thing on the website too! It's really good.
Oh I wish the JCR still had that on their website, sounds useful.

8, thats a nice size

In the UK, you should find out before Christmas  (unless we have huge amounts of snow, like happened last year  but in that case they may well email)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Does mean that christmas is probable ruined for most of us :L xxx

Try to get in touch with some of the colleges? Say you were preposterously ill or something. It's worth a go, right?

Acknowledgement finally came! Although "Urgent information about your application to study History and English" is such a worrying thing to see in your subject line until you open it and just realise it's information about registering for the HAT.
Yay! Got an email from Bristol today... Now I'm only missing an email from one of my choices. :holmes:

no no I'm just worrying if my college will be changed one day because I don't want it to change... they said in the acknowledgement that my college is already confirmed, but I wonder if it means it won't change no matter what or it's still subject to change, because I really don't want to change college...

oh will international applicants be interviewed 2x too, if they choose to be interviewed through phone?

Well if your first choice college decides not to take you, you may be picked up by another college and be given an offer from them. You have no choice over that (well, you choose by doing the best in your interviews I guess).

I would guess that international students get more than one phone interview, but I do not know. I am sure you can find information on Oxford's website, or email an appropriate tutor.
Anyone else get a delightfully alarmist email this morning regarding entry to the HAT? Thank god I double checked I was entered last Thursday...

Woooop German  What did you think of the BA course at Oxford? And why the second BA?

Hey,

Sorry for the late reply. Haven't really used this forum since the first time around of applying!

BA Modern Languages at Oxford is a-maz-ing. The Taylorian (Taylor Institute) is so good. The resources are fantastic and there are specialists in everything.

It depends a lot on the College you're at for some stuff, though. How much oral practice and translation you get to do changes from one place to the next.

First year is brilliant, as it's designed to introduce you to all manner of literary genres and periods.

I'm going for a second degree because I very nearly ended up studying Law with Law Studies in Europe anyway but was more drawn to MFL. Now, though, I want to study Law more than ever!

I thought the deadline was 15th October?

Though I haven't had acknowledgement yet and mine went off on the 11th...

edit: misread your post and it wouldn't let me delete. Check your spam folder - I just found mine sitting there from 12th October...

If you get invited for an interview, you will be interviewed at your selected college. However, you might get interviews at other colleges and might receive an offer from another college if your college will not be able to offer you a place (if it has too many qualified candidates). So yes, you can be moved to another college, but it either that or not Oxford at all..

Original post by desy.kris
will that be the case for internationals who can't make it to the UK, too?

Original post by AnimalSpirit
I'm pretty sure.. The interview process shouldn't change because of that.. Although, I might be wrong
