I'm a Pats fan from Boston. Never thought I'd see an NFL thread on TSR! I'm more interested in rest-of-the-world footie anyway.

Are Bangor for real then?

Late reply, dont check this much.

Nah theyre nothing special. Obviously the option was a bit of a shock for a rookie D but our OLB who played for Blitz youth basically shut it down himself for most of the game (13 or 14 solo tackles i think). Although the americans are decent athletes, that fact that your in about 6 inches of mud probably affects the game more than them. I think they've improved all around but itll be interesting to see their offense when the americans go home, both the Qb and the RB are american

Yeah, rules changes have made the passing game way more effective than ever before over the last 10-15 years - it probably won't change for a very long time. The problem is there really aren't many of those elite level passers around, which means this upcoming draft class for QBs could be an interesting one to look at given how many there seem to be that could be high-ish picks.

The guys you mention are Pocket QBs who are accurate, clever, strong armed players, not hugely mobile players (Rodgers and Big Ben scramble a bit more than the other 3). The usual knock on athletic Qbs is their accuracy and smarts, but they have the mobility a Pocket qb wouldn't necessarily have. It's interesting though because if you look at Cam Newton, he's adapting to the league this year but he does seem to be an unusually good mix of those sides to the position at a young age - 84.0 QB rating so far, a 60% completion rating, 11 Passing and 7 Rushing TDs and 374 yards rushing. A defense having to prepare for a possible scramble opens a passing game up a little bit more.

Agreed. I've really enjoyed watching Newton.

I must admit I was extremely doubtful of him during the draft hype, but he seems to be doing well. Much like Vick though, the second year (second year back in the league for Vick) is important as people are going to start game planning for him as they will know much more about him and have played against him before.

Just found this thread, been following NFL for years. Patriots fan. But loving the tebow action at the moment, I was happier when the broncos won last night, than when the patriots beat the jets last weekend.

Thoughts on andrew luck? He looks amazing, but seening the colts fans on tv wearing luck T shirts is stupid. It is too soon to bump manning, considering what he has done for the colts.

There is also matt barkley, and with all the hype around luck he could be a great shout.

Fair enough, did you have a rookie DE in? DE makes it or breaks it on the option

All our Dline are rookies, joys of a first year team!
It's not that hard to teach a DE to sit if he's not a mong though. Both of our DEs are new at the position although not new at football and they shut down Loughborough's option. Problem is when you shut down Loughborough's option Hope runs it up the middle and not many teams in the league will stop that I don't think.

Andy Dalton. OMG, you better believe the hype about this guy.

WOW.
10-0 oh hell yeah.
Really not sure what to think about the Dolphins now. Whilst the performances have improved and it's nice to win, the wins have been against teams that really aren't that good at the moment.
^^^ Hey, no matter what the league situation, thoroughly smashing the Bills will always put a smile on my face
mmmm Patriots. Nomnomnomnom. I predict (and I suppose this will curse us, but who cares) that the Pats will win BIG tonight.

Imma be bold and say we score over 40 and keep the Chiefs under 20. Also Brady goes off for 3 TDs and 350+ yards.

Only watched the first quarter when the kansas were leading 3-0. But felt very safe it was fine, looks like brady is getting back on form. Gonna go watch the highlights now.

Patriots to meet green bay or the 49ers in the superbowl? I think the ravens are steelers are the only match for the patriots in the afc, but all three teams have their flaws.

Pats are in the driving seat for the 1 seed in the AFC now...

I can still see them going one and out in the playoffs though. That defence has more holes than swiss cheese.

I would love a Pats - Packers Super Bowl. A nice high scoring game - 2 elite QBs, 2 bad defences (in terms of yards allowed).

I just think watching the Ravens or Steelers trying to stop Rodgers would get a bit boring. However watching the Patriots and Packers defences trying to stop each other and failing would be good. See some Gronkowski vs Finley too. Personally I prefer Gronkowski, TD machine and Brady's go to guy in the red zone. The fact that the Patriots often go for it on 4th and Goal shows the faith Brady has in his 2 TEs.

I wasn't THAT far off with my prediction, but the Pats had a bit more of a balanced offense, with Brady going for a bit less and our Rbs getting a bit more time on the ball than usual. Still very happy with the win though .

As for the superbowl prediciton....

This.

I think we will avoid going 0-1 in the Playoffs as we have a lot of talent and a D that can play when it wants to. But ultimately, our defense (at the moment at least) is just not up to scratch to win a championship. As shown by 2007, your offense can be as good as it likes, but if your D lets you down then you're going to go home with nothing. The same could happen to the Packers this year. They're playing great offensively (pretty much as effective as the 07 Pats IMO), but the defense is shoddy and could yet be their downfall.

I think the Ravens have what it takes to go all the way this year.

It would be amazing I agree, and I also prefer Gronkowski, but I could be biased. He also spent his Bye Week with a pornstar...

Yeah, very close. The fact that the patriots only conceded 3 points is pretty good, although I suppose that is more the KC offense than the pats defense, but I didn't see the game so can't really tell.

The packers have only conceded 9 more points than the Pats so far, but I get the feeling they have a better D. That could just be me though.

Have the ravens not been incredibly inconsistent this year though? I suppose if you make it to the playoffs and are consistent there, then that is all which matters really.

Yes the Pack D is better than the Pats D. Far more able IMO. Although relatively the same production overall, it has been a bit more consistent. The Pats defense is prone to a shocker every now and again and lacks a bit of leadership at times.

The Ravens have been a bit inconsistent, but they swept the Steelers and have some quality veteran talent. Also, they have a killer defense, and defense wins championships my friend.
Well Orton was waived by Denver. Where's he going to end up? I'm thinking Jaguars personally since Gabbert is rather useless at the minute.
