Honestly cheney and clive booth arent all what everyone thinks they r.

For what you pay for those halls is extreme for you get.

Other halls such as warneford is one of the closest to gipsy lane but is so much cheaper than the others.

I live in crescent hall which is not far from paul kent hall. which is yes further away from the university but is so much cheaper. I put crescent as my forth choice and is also the cheapest. If you don't mind a bus journey then its perfect.

I study at wheatley so i have to take a bus anyway.

Free bus pass is included in your rent

I was in crescent aswell, loved it there.

Careful with the whole "free" bus pass, its actually paid in with the rent, just some people get picky on here about that, not naming any names.

Hei, if anyone is interested I just received my offer for International Business Management at Brookes:smile:
I'm not from the UK so it's a personalised offer but in case you wanted to know, they started giving out offers. I still have another one, combined degree, that i have not yet received an answer too. Good luck to everyone with their apps^.^

So what is the reason why everyone makes out as though Clive Booth and Chesney are the best?

Also, on the day you moved in to your halls.. what was it like? what happened? did people come in and say hi? did you all go out at night as a group etc?
clive booth and cheney are the biggest halls offered at OBU, They are also the newest.

In terms of numbers clive booth combined has over 1500 students. Cheney has 750.

In comparison to the other 3 halls which house around 300 students each. Its up to you but A) if you put OBU as an insurance choice the likely hood of receiving accom in halls is very very slim. B) bigger halls dont always mean more socialising. Most people i know in those halls socialise within a small group and then mix with others. You make your friends on course and more importantly societies and sports teams

:O if i insure it - theres a chance I wont get a place in halls :O :O :O and is there a footballl team? - also how many times a week dyou go out clubbing etc.. and to which places.. e.g. bridge, lava, clems..
when u insure any university there is less of a chance of receiving halls. Priority goes to those who firm. If all who firm fill up the halls then insurance students will not recieve a place.

Yes there is a football team  both 5aside leagues and actual football teams for all levels.

I go clubbing a couple of times a week. varies on the work load for the week.

I tend to go lava, fuzzies, camera and regal.

Monday - Bridge
Tuesday - Lava
Wednesday - lola lo's / fuzzy ducks / wahoo
Thursday - camera
friday - regal / no9
sat - propaganda at o2

varies per week and theme nights or who i actually go out with.

Every semester there is a stamina event which is a 5 club crawl starting at 7.30 finishing at 3am. Lots of fun and has both unis involved.

You will find that you don't mix with oxford uni. we all have different student nights and clubs do student ID you on those nights

Ooo, that sounds goood

Warehouse or "300" at Regal is shutting down at xmas apparently?

IS it usuaally the same people in the clubs every week though?
Is Oxford extremly student dominated due to the fact that theres like 35,000+ students at brookes and oxford in total?

Will there be socials for like the football team e.g. they all go out together ?
yeah regal is unfortunatly :frown: but no9 or even clems will start getting busy on a friday.

erm i havnt really noticed. some groups do go to the same nights every week so you will always see those people but i don't really notice.

Yes there will be socials for the football team. Every sports team i believe has socials. I am a member of the climbing club and we have a social every week varying from clubbing to ice skating or just film night. Got a black tie christmas dinner in 2 weeks.

I am wondering if anyone got any offers for Business management, combined, it's my last choice and I want an answer as soon as possible :frown:
Applied at Brookes for history, still awaiting a response though...
Anyone else applied to do history and got an offer?

Brookes seems to be taking its time...

What's the best halls to apply for if you are putting Brookes down for your insurance?
It doesnt make much difference. The chances are that if you get accepted in Brookes as your insurance you wont receive accommodation. Some do get accommodating but it is normally never one of your choices as priority is given to those who firm. Insurances get the leftover rooms if any exist

From quite a lot of people I've spoken to - it is very much possible to receive accommodation if its your insurance.. I bet brookes wasn't your firm.. and you're still in accommodation!
Brookes was my firm choice and i got my 4th choice of accommodation actually thanks. Everybody who i know at the university who didnt put brookes didnt get accommodation and now live in slade park which is private halls.

I didnt get clive booth or cheney and i was a firm choice so i wouldnt expect someone who put it as an insurance to get in there.
