How to go about becoming a Sexual Health worker/nurse?

The title says it all really! I was also wondering if anyone has gone down that route before, and if you have any advice?

Thanks in advance

Well if you want to become a sexual health nurse you need to do a pre reg Adult Nursing degree which are usually 3 years (diploma is or has been phased out in a lot of places) then you would specialise in sexual health upon qualifying.

so after doing a adult nursing degree, do you have to do public health or specialize into sexual health coz i am finding it difficult to look for a sexual health course and how many years does it take to become a sexual health nurse
Good luck and in a way thank you to anyone who goes down that career path as those skills are certainly needed. Not a job I would ever consider as I could not detach myself from thinking about the actions each person had taken prior to visiting the clinic or hospital.

The easiest way would be to find employment in a sexual health clinic as a registered nurse. They would provide you with the training to get started and would no doubt have access for further training so that you could specialise in that area of practice.

You first need to do a nursing degree (usually BN) and then register as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Then get some experience as a newly qualified nurse. You would normally need to work as a registered nurse for at least 2-3 yrs before applying to work as a specialist in sexual health nursing. You could then gain specialist qualifications in sexual health as you progressed.

Not always. There's also BSc, BA, MSc MA, PgDip, as well. Makes no difference as long as the course you're doing leads to registration with the NMC.
I am already I mental health nurse.
