The OP didn't ask about why Maddie got more news coverage. But congratulations, you shoehorned in an opinion which was edgy in 2007 and has since been regurgitated almost word-for-word about once a month on this site alone.

It is relevant in a thread that is asking why so many people go missing each year, yet only a few are reported on a national level. The answer is that it is because they are white and middle-class - see Joanna Yeates as well.
She was never called Maddie by her parents, it was a sycophantic nickname made up by the media.
And there is nothing edgy about the truth, which is timeless.
(This is no reflection on the actual people of course, just a sign of the media's selective reporting of missing people).

If you go on the misssing persons website for the UK, it is scary how many pretty young girls from East Asia enter the UK with nothing and no connections, and then vanish shortly afterwards never to be seen again
