Quitting Pornography

After watching porn every day for months I really want to stop but i never seem to be able to. It doesn't seem to be as easy for me as 'just don't watch it'.

Has anyone else manage to quit watching porn? How did you manage it and go about it?

I've never had this problem before, but instead of quitting it altogether try cutting down by a small amount each day.
I have a friend who managed to quit - but that was because he met a girl who he completely adores and she such an innocent that he feels a little dirty watching things and thinking about her.

I'm not really sure how you'd manange - I suppose there are a few things, sort of distraction techniques.
But other than that I'm not entirely sure, sorry.

Talk about an impossible task....
Move to North Korea?
lol I watched it at least 5 times a week for years, but I decided to stop the day before my UCAS was sent off at the start of November, as I thought that God was more likely to influence the universitiy admissions people to give me offers if I wasn't masturbating over porn all the time. I am very suprised at myself that I have so far gone for about 35 days without ****ing. I'm a ticking timb bomb!

Chill... I'm guessing you're a horny teen so just rellish in the porn until you get a girlfriend.
But it's not even February yet :zomg:

Check out this website: http://yourbrainonporn.com/

There are plenty of other guys who've realised the damaging effects of porn and are cutting it out, or no longer watch it. Of course, very few of them will be on here as this forum is full of horny teenagers - certainly when I was that age I would never have appreciated my current viewpoint!

I'd been spanking the monkey for over a decade (when I found out about the youtube-esque porn sites I was in pig heaven!), but realised the damaging effects of porn and masturbation on my productivity and appreciation of real girls. Abstaining has made me feel more alive - I'm much more sociable, get more done, and I've increased my confidence and self-esteem. The most successful guys I know haven't looked at porn for years - though whether that's a cause or effect of them swimming in poon is hard to tell. Probably both.

I was hoping for OP to be an adult "actress"

I find I only watch it because I have nothing better to do - maybe find something else to occupy your mind?

Get your mum to put some sort of parental control on the internet.

I think the question is, why do you want to quit? Everyone watches porn, I'm sure even your nan watched porn at one time in her life.

I had a similar problem but I solved it by getting castrated.

Firstly, I think it is important to make the distinction between masturbating to pornography and just masturbating. I used to watch porn for a few years and it was an addiction, and then when I was 17 I just really wanted to stop, and so one evening I said to myself I would never watch it again, and so far I haven't (I'm now 22). Initially it was hard because the images stay in your mind- even now I remember some of the people that were on those videos, and it's everything else like the language and so on.

Then I also stopped masturbating for almost 18 months, and nocturnal emissions came back. I wouldn't advise refraining from masturbation unless you actually don't desire to do it. It was quite damaging to me because I had no sexual outlet whatsoever and I think I was affected as a result. But it is perfectly possible to masturbate without your thoughts 'hurting' another, if you get my meaning.

I also prayed and God did help me, but now I see that I cannot escape my sexuality (that I am a man with sexual urges) and masturbation is not really an issue for me now. It's a bit annoying sometimes because it just feels so rubbish because you're alone and you feel like you're wasting yourself, but that will go if and when I have a wife, hopefully.

Dates can be good, like I know the anniversary of when I last looked at porn (something like the 29th July 2007), but even if you trip up and you go back to it, at least you are making progress.

But kudos to you anyway for having it in your mind that you'd like to give it up. Keeping the distinction between pornography and masturbation is good, I think, and to be honest, we can't switch off our sexuality. From my viewpoint, thinking about sex is fine and even good because I can thank God for making me able to enjoy things like that, but it's when I crave with all my being for someone's body that my head starts to hurt, because I don't see them as a person- just their body, and so it's all false because it's not the whole truth about them. And thinking that helps me
