Are you living on campus, have flatmates and so on?

Alternatively, can't you talk to whoever's in your lectures and make friends that way?

yeah im living on campus, and I dunno everyone just seems obsessed with getting drunk etc but i can't for health reasons so i feel really outta place :/

Properly obsessed? Most people I've met at UEA like drinking as a way to have fun but they're not hugely dependent on it. Can you join in with flat games and stuff and just not drink?

Anyone know roughly how many hours' contact time a week you have for Psychology?

Or just any psychology-at-UEA related comments?

Don't do Psychology but my flatmate does and he has a lot of free time  He was telling me earlier he only has two-three days of contact time this semester, then last semester he had fridays off. What I would give to have a day off *dreams*

Awww I know exactly what you mean, I rarely ever drink, had to go two years without drinking because of medication so drinking isn't anything amazing to me. My flat mock me for my measuring jug of squash  and they know if they try and force me they'll get a nice string of phrases  What do you study? What kind of things do you find fun?

Bloody hell. He'll have to do a lot of studying on his own though. Would you mind asking him how many hours? Does he like it (bar the whole epic free time thing)?
I don't drink and I still participate in drinking games/going out and just replace alcohol with squash/fizzy drinks. I still manage to have a perfectly good time, but that's just me :dontknow: I've never had anyone not want to socialise with me because I don't drink :p: I don't think anyone really cares tbh :dontknow:

Don't they do a weekly film showing in one of the LTs on thurs/fri? What about popping to one of them? Could join a sports club, the fair is tomorrow irrc. Although with the sport club I joined, their socials are very alcohol orientated. So you could ask at the fair what kind of socials they do?

He's got a lot of thick textbooks in his room, whether he reads them or not I don't know haha. Course, I'll ask him later.

What do people think of UEA in terms of reputation, graduate employability etc
What unis would you compare it to
Thanks
I consider it better than a lot of universities.

According to the guardian its better than some big names.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/table/2011/may/17/university-league-table-2012

Its always held in good regard I think.

I'm studying at UEA currently, and I definitely consider it to be a very good university! If it helps to see some facts and figures, in the Guardian league tables for 2012 UEA is ranked in the UK top 20 universities, European top 100, and World top 150 - these tables look at lots of different criteria.

The Whatuni website is another good source of info on universities, where current students can rank their own uni. Again, you'll see that UEA has some happy students! You might like to look at the link, here: http://www.whatuni.com/degrees/uk-best-university-ranking/rankings-2009/universityrankings.html

Of course, tables like these are not the only source of information about life at any university, so if you have any more questions about living and learning at UEA, then feel free to ask away!

Sorry forgot to ask and then he was away for the weekend just came back. He said about 3 days, 8-10hours a week, he enjoys the course but says to tell you that there is a stats module you have to do, in case you didnt know.

No worries, thank you! Yeah, I looked at the course profile. Long as it's a means to an end it shouldn't be that bad

I think nearly every science here they made you do some form of maths especially if you didnt do AS/Alevel, as we have a pure and stats maths module each semester this year. :/

Very safe, I'm from North England and was initially shocked to see how people casually walked the streets at 2 at night.
