Just saw Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Average action flick to be honest but the CGI was great but overall nothing great.
Getting panned by the critics though...

I didn't even know a sequel existed. It's been a bit under the radar (like every film Cage makes nowadays). Talking of sequels, they are going to make I Am Legend 2 which will not be a prequel but which will have Will Smith in it again. Hm, I vaguely recall him being blown up...

Finally saw Drive after putting it off for so long. Hot damn that is a good film.

How did you leave it alone for so long?

Holy crap, this is still a thing. How is this still a thing?

It's so awesome :awesome:

Not just space Nazis. Space Nazis vs Sarah Palin.

I KNOW RIGHT

Speaking of Nazis, I recently watched Dead Snow. It was visually entertaining, but it's a long time since I've seen such a complete lack of plot in a film.

Been watching some Bond films. They're...patchy, to say the least. I loved The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill, I think Dalton's probably the best one (not solely because his iteration is darker, but he gives Bond a dimension that everyone barring Craig has thus far lacked). I didn't enjoy GoldenEye as much as I thought I would (despite its excellent villain and stuntwork). It's better than basically all of the Moore films and some of the Connery ones, but I find Brosnan to be a fairly bland Bond, and for these films to work, you really need to engage with the main character.

This is pretty much how I feel about Bond films.

Mm. I sometimes feel Dalton and Craig are the only ones who played Bond as an actual human being (although I haven't seen the Lazenby film and a good few of the Moore ones). This doesn't mean the Connery films were bad or anything - quite the opposite (watched Dr. No & From Russia recently, both brilliant) - but ConneryBond seems to be little more than what Judi Dench calls CraigBond in Casino Royale: a blunt, misogynist instrument, fighting & ****ing his way out of every problem. Suppose this is as much a problem of the time they were made as it is anything else.

Dead Snow has to be one of the most random films I've ever seen - I knew nothing about it before watching... Still, provided a fair few laughs for me and my mates :P

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of Moore, and while I enjoy Connery (have you seen Diamonds Are Forever?), he's not my favourite. I think I need to rewatch the Dalton films to decide whether I prefer him or Craig, though. As for Lazenby, I've only ever seen parts of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and I don't recall it being particularly memorable.

What I've read of OHMSS seems to suggest that it's a good film with a pretty poor Bond. Can't confirm, though.

I haven't seen Diamonds are Forever or You Only Live Twice. Getting on that soon, although I hear DAF is ludicrous even for Bond (and that Connery looks disinterested throughout).

It is ludicrous, but the two assassins are splendid characters.

Is Never Let Me Go a good film? Is it likely to reduce a girl to tears? :pierre:

Yeah, it's a decent film. As for tears, I found it to be more numbing than tearful although it does have the potential to produce tears...girls are vulnerable when they cry so I hope you are asking this with good intentions.. :ninja:

I dunno really. I tend to have an aversion to hype if it's not something I've seen right away or have been interested in for a while, so seeing all the raving about it put me off a little. And then I heard it described as a modern day Bullitt, which was a film I found to be so incredibly boring.

it's a long time since I've seen such a complete lack of plot in a film.

I saw Melancholia recently, and that has pretty much no plot at all either. Really enjoyed it though.
