I vote for 1 or 2. :biggrin:

On Friday, I passed my driving test.
On Saturday, I went up to Chesters Roman Fort, just north of Hexham, with a friend. We wandered around the ruins, had a picnic overlooking a river and generally had a lovely time. On the train back, I was able to finish reading a book I've been trying to get around to for ages. :smile:

So far today, I've been out for a short walk, written some letters home and made lunch. Now I am watching Happy Go Lucky and making boomerangs for a lesson on Australia on Wednesday. This lull between placements is amazing, even if I do have another 5,000 word essay waiting for my attention lol. :redface:

I had to skip a DT class to take it and they went and made groovy pull along toys but nevermind lol. It is done now. Quite excited about getting my pink licence - finally. Bit sad to have stopped having my lessons now though - they were something of a restbite, a constant during this pgce year lol. [Okay, that makes me seem really sad. I have friends, honest, and a social life, but I just enjoyed that hour or so a week focusing on something completely non-pgce related.] :redface:

Chin up. It's nearly over. And a driving licence is a skill for life in all sorts of ways. I met my husband doing my PGCE so the memory of it is a bit skewed positively, but the non-romantic part was sheer hell, and I've never forgotten it. It does come to an end eventually. Honest.

One of the best days of my life when I passed my test. So many opportunities! Sounds like you've had a lovely weekend too.

I'm starting to feel massively stressed, it's like a out untned tv in up there at the moment! What is the point of a 1000 word essay which is only going to be peer assessed. Eugh!

I am currently doing my pgce but as it is in physical education i get no funding! i have had my student load, but well after board, car insurance and petrol i am getting no money at all and maxing out my overdraft?

Anyone know any help which is out there? Ive only got 4 months left but well im seriously considering quiting and getin a job for money as this is getting stupid and stessing me out so much!

I cant even get a part time job becuase of all the planning, assignments etc and doing PE i am doing after school clubs most nights/fixtures!

All I can say is that I am in the same position, but I know that is no comfort. :/

My studnet loan doesn't cover my rent - it is over £500 short. The money I had saved up was swallowed up by Christmas. So, now I am living in my overdraft and just praying they don't ask for it back until I have a job and am in a position to pay it. I was able to extend my overdraft though, so that has given me access to a little big more - good thing, as that is what I am going to be living off until we finish the course. :/

Re Career Development Loans.

The website says you cannot apply if you already get/are eligible to get a student loan but it doesn't mention PGCEs in particular.
It also says that it takes 6 weeks to 3 months to get the loan, if you are approved, so it might be a bit late.

I hope you manage to get through penkwolf. Can you extend your overdraft? Does your university provide hardship funds?

I can confirm this. Career development loans are typically for postgraduate students or people taking vocation qualifications provided by specialist trainers or further-education colleges.

If you are struggling financially then talk to apply for your university's access to learning fund. The money is almost exclusively used to prevent people dropping out of courses for financial reasons, and depending upon your university there may not be that many applications.

Just had an awful driving lesson & now have to finish planning tomorrow's 2 lessons as I've been debating the content of them over the weekend... my department had better watch out tomorrow, it will almost definitely end in tears...
