Hmm the plot thickens. I wonder why some people's status' have changed and other people's haven't :confused:

I'm just thinking maybe they put the applications into batches, review them, score them then move onto the next batch? Then the people with the highest scores get interviews.

Haha, guys, stop trying to over-analyse it. :biggrin:

Just chill! The most likely explanation is that your applications were all split up into groups and sent off to different people for review. Some of those people may be working through their applications quicker than others. Try not to panic yourselves too much. :smile:

(Easy for me to say, as I'm not an applicant this year. :tongue:

)

Just out of curiosity, how many of you applied to do medical physics? Micro seems to have been mentioned a lot but are there no physicists in here?! :tongue:

It might not be a good thing though, they might be reviewing my application because my score is low and they are looking into rejecting me. I suppose there's no point worrying, would be interested to see if anyone else on this thread has that message though.

I've had the same message:

"Thank you. Your application is currently being reviewed."

Who knows what it means...interesting that people are getting different messages when they log on though... :eek:

Mine says that my application is being reviewed. I must say that I don't really trust that milkround site though - what it actually says when we log on might not have anything to do with whether the application is currently being reviewed or not!

Mine still says they won't take my application further. Which is a lie as I found out recently, so no need to take what it says on milkround seriously yet. Or maybe that "you're not actually rejected anymore" email was a cruel hoax!

I emailed the NHS Scientists Recruitment Team asking for relevant contact details for the 3 NHS trusts that I had applied to so that I could arrange a visit, and they wouldn't give them to me..! They said that given the number of applicants, it would be unmanageable for all of us to visit and suggested only those who are invited for interview should get in touch. I thought this was fair enough but I was still a little surprised. Has anyone else managed to arrange a visit?

No, but that's unfortunate as when I visited Northampton hospital last year there were about 30 of us and they just split us into groups, obviously it's inconvenient for the lab but they seemed happy to have us. You'll just have to do some hunting for the appropriate contact details online and/or make some phone calls to the relevant hospitals. However I think it would be financially more viable for you to wait and see if you were invited to an interview.

I was in last years round of applications and my first lab choice had an open day before the deadline for the online application. There was about 60 people but this was BEFORE anyone knew about interviews so I would contact your first choice now and see if they have an open days as if you wait for interview notification the lab open day may have passed. Alternatively, if the open day has passed and you get an interview, call the lab and ask to have an informal meeting with the consultant and also for a lab tour, its good to get your name mentioned. I think only one lab visit should be enough really though, going to all of them is probably above the call of duty.

One issue i forsee though is that when you get told you have an interview, you aren't told for which position and so you might go on a lab tour in a lab to which you don't have an interview! Because the system is different this year, it might be that you aren't interviewed for a specific place but are allocated a place depending on your score.

Does anyone have any experience of last year's interviews? I read a post about multiple stations and a score card. Can anybody expand and possibly let us know what sort of questions were asked? Were all the specialities together? So they ask specialism specific questions to quiz subject knowledge?

There are different days for different specialisms so last year I was on the immunology/histocompatibility day. There was 4 stations, 10mins each and you got like 1-2 mins inbetween each panel (of two people) whilst they tabulated your scores. A bell would chime when you have to move to the next station. Two of the panels were general interview questions really and then two were specific to the subject you are applying for. It was daunting at first but when by really quickly...and although i didnt get the position I did get on the reserve list so really close but no cigar!

I don't think you should put much thought to it. They are probably viewing other candidate applications and probably haven't come across yours yet.

Yeah i'm not reading too much into it, the whole online application was a bit mental itself, i didnt even know that i'd passed the tests until I came on here and realised that if i had failed I would get an email saying so. But they don't send an email saying you've passed the tests, just an email saying you would b contacted in April!
