Neither have I! much

Um... oh yes! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Megachange-world-2050-Economist/dp/product-description/1846685850 it looks so pretty and shiny and good.

Is it wrong of me to like The Economist and LSE because their logos are kindof the same?

Also isn't this thread specifically for UCAS rather than economics chat? So if anything you're veering the thread off topic Illmatic

oooh! What does everyone thing of the budget?

I think the budget was pretty boring and squeezes the middle further, I also think politically it would have been better for Osborne to get rid of the 50p rate altogether (in the long run).
make an Economics chat thread, then BNE :colone:

We were trying to get an economics chat section but they never put one in, so there is no real appropriate place to discuss economics, you would get the best audience by making one in this sub-forum.

S3 is the only one I'm doing. seeing as FP1 and D1 are AS technically. Ah, don't they teach S3 at that private school of yours! Bloody cheek. Our lessons are rather haphazard because it's not a real lesson but ah so you haven't met Pearson and his chi-squared test :h: central limit theory! hmmm C4 and S3 are at the same time though, stupid bloody Edexcel.

As for your question erm... I like politics? I don't think I could handle straight Economics, it seems like you rejoice at the thought of Econometrics?

What about S2? M3/M2? I quite like statistics so far, more than anything we've covered in maths, so hopefully econometrics will be interesting!

I applied to Oxford (rejection after interview), Warwick (offer), Durham (rejection) and St. Andrews (offer). I really like Warwick but I'd prefer to live in London. I have lived close to a big city all my life that's why it would be a huge change to live in a small town like Coventry

Haha, for me it was the opposite! I really liked Nottingham as it wasn't near the city but I got rejected :P I guess I will have to remain in London for many years to come.
Warwick is really good for economics, congrats!

Oh I'm not actually doing M3/2 I just know the general gist of what's in them. Oh hell no! Real Maths >>>> Stats. Hmm Algebra, integration, calculus!

 First year LSE Stats:

Sampling distributions of statistics and the Central Limit Theorem. Concepts of statistical inference; Point estimation: method of moments estimation, least squares estimation and maximum likelihood estimation; Interval estimation; Testing statistical hypotheses: one-sample tests and two-sample tests; Inference for correlation coefficients and variances; Rank-based nonparametric tests and goodness-of-fit tests; Contingency tables; Linear regression analysis: LSE, hypothesis testings, and prediction; Regression and ANOVA with Minitab.

Even though you're headed for Cam it's all the same... right?

I just realised that nearly all the maths that is taught for LL12 I've already learnt. not okay. Why don't they get to do MA100

I see, feel free to add one! I really wish I bought google shares when they were cheap not $600 :cry2: failed investment opportunity

It amuses me that there's an ad for The Economists student subscription all over the economics forum. Target advertising, you are doing it right.

Thank you! I do prefer LSE's font though :coma:

Anyone who's holding an offer for Bath, I went and looked through their course for 2011-12, I would think it would be similar for us aswell.

http://www.bath.ac.uk/catalogues/2011-2012/es/UHES-AFB03.htm (3 years)

Quite a few maths modules, glad to see they offer Econometrics

Yeah the models are good. I would be interested to know about the Director of Studies approved units, what sort of things do you think people would do?

If you don't mind me asking, what made you make that decision?

You mean Bath over Warwick?

Just the little things really, Bath seems like a nice, quiet place, but with Bristol still nearby, amazing gym and sports facilities, year in industry, better student satisfaction, cuter girls and overall just seemed right from the open day. For three years I want to be able to enjoy myself as well and I don't think it'll affect job prospects or salary much in the long run.
