Some pop music is good. The Beatles, Blondie and other artists.

Modern pop music 99% of the time is derivative crap that has crap singers take half their clothes off and sing crap lyrics written by someone else.

My personal stance is that if I like a song, regardless of the lyrics, who wrote it etc.. then I like it.

Prefer a mix of music, stuff that Late Junction play on Radio 3. Haven't listened to pop music for ages. Like odd tune here and there.

its a bit annoying when everyone you know likes pop music and I'm the only person that listens to bands like metallica and blink 182.

most of it sounds the same, i guess i like some pop music but a lot of it the singers don't even write there own music and sound crap live.

Even though Metallica are one of the biggest groups in the entire world that fill up stadiums wherever they play. Try finding people who like the gathering. Never met another person in real life who like them.

Depends how you define pop music. The terms literally means any popular music, so it refers to variety of genres.

I'm going to assume you mean manufactured pop, it which case I think it's an awful thing which needs to stop.

It isn't my preferred genre of music - there are a few songs that I like....I try not to judge something before I try it first, but generally I prefer the sounds of other types of music

It usually involves clapping your hands and doing the rollie pollie or something.

I find 99% of it to be utterly dull, repetitive, meaningless noise.

(obviously there are rare exceptions) but generally I can't listen to anything if:

    1) The performing artist did not write it themselves
    2) The performing artist cannot play any musical instruments
    3) The lyrics are banal (about the opposite sex, nights out partying or self-confidence anthems about 'haters' and the artists own personal achievements - basically if the artist is just singing about themselves all the time or fixated on objectifying the other sex or hung up on relationships or crushes)

Preach... Except for point no. 2 - because that would essentially rule out all hip-hop music.
