End of Uni- Career Blank

So I officially had my last class of undergraduate study on Wednesday. I still have 3 final essays and my dissertation to complete before I'm truly done, but I'm worried as I have nothing lined up. My degree was English Literature!

I have applied for multiple graduate schemes and reached penultimate stages but was not successful. I still have one assessment centre to go to early April for the NGDP. I am also waiting to hear back on whether I have been accepted onto the PGCE course, but as I have left it so late I really don't think this is a feasible option.
I was successful in getting onto an MSc in Human Resource Management at Oxford Brookes but I just really cannot afford to take out a loan to cover £9500 fees.

What next?! I have applied for local administration jobs at colleges, sales positions and more but have mostly heard nothing back. Am I obviously going wrong somewhere?

Ideally I want to go into full time work now. My CV covers hospitality, sales, retail, admin, and work with disabled children and adults. I haven't specialised anywhere which I believe is holding me back.

Ultimate problem- I dont actually know what I want to do! One minute I want to teach special education and the next I want to be a Wedding Planner!

HELP! :frown:
i graduated a year ago and still have the same problems lol

I am in the same position as you, final year, got through to a number of penultimate stages on grad schemes but still awaiting the elusive assessment centre invitation! I have no idea what I want to do though so my job search hasn't been particularly focused and haven't got all the internships and work experience that every successful candidate seems to have. I'm planning on taking the next year as a gap year, moving back home, hopefully get temp work over the summer so I have some idea of what I want/don't want to do. Ideal scenario is get temp work, absolutely love it, apply for grad scheme in same area, get offer for grad scheme in September 2013 and then go travelling! Can only hope that happens though!

It's horrible isnt it! As we don't know what we want to do we cant focus, what degree did you do?
I have a trial day as a Bridal consultant tomorrow and an Interview with Oxford University for a PGCE... part of me doesnt want to go back into the classroom for another year.
Im dreaming of taking the Bridal Consultancy job and then starting my own business in a few years as my industry knowledge develops. Dont know how realistic this is though.
Teaching is my safe option. :s-smilie:

It's pretty rough, I may have a few weeks work experience in HR in the summer but can't make any summer plans, I'm so desperate to just go on holiday somewhere as I've saved quite a bit from my job but can't even do that. :frown: I'm doing geography and like everyone else who picks it I have literally no idea what I want to do. I contemplated teaching but like you said I want to have a life first, not just have everything I know being in the education system and I know that if you're not completely committed they are awful as they are so much work! I hope the bride consultancy works out for you!
