    A lion or a gorilla?
    (...)
    An interesting question and speculation.

If a gorilla must fight with bare hands, a lion would win the fight.
But if a gorilla is allowed to use a natural tool as weapon, a gorilla can taken advantage under these circumstances to beat the lion.

Thank you! I will correct my last post.

And what is your opinion? What do you believe? Can a gorilla defeat a lion?

Which shows the lion is more successful. The greater the numbers the more successful a species is. Even now they outnumber gorilla's so still today they are more successful.
So by your logic, Chickens and ants are more succesful than us?

Biomass is a better measure (which is what I actually meant) and seeing as lions are actually on average heavier than gorillas then they quite obviously have a higher biomass (which is why I didn't state that). There is only a large number of chickens because we farm them; but ants are actually a very successful animal. I would say the most successful animal on Earth after humans are rats (they probably have the second highest biomass behind us aswell).

How someone can think ants aren't successful I don't know.

I think a lion would win
Gorillas have stronger arms but lions have strong bites and are quicker to get away as long as hes careful the lion should win
True, but if you ever look at a video of a lion chasing prey it always kills by going for the neck. Against a gorilla which is prepared to stand and fight that's going to be a very difficult place to get. Anywhere else would do some pretty serious damage, and the lion's claws would cause deep lacerations, but it wouldn't be enough to knock the gorilla out of action.
