I just finished watching Uzo's Tokyo Story, at long bloody last. Absolutely brilliant film.

The amount of comprehensive hemming and hawing did get on my tits at times, mind.

Captain america was a bit of a a let down but I primarily watched because of the avengers. I didn't look at it too much from a critical eyes but it was one orgasmic superhero orgy to say the least :sogood:

Watched Oldboy the other day. Left me breathless, amazed, wanting more.

Loved it!

Saw The Avengers yesterday. I thought it was fun, but there were plenty of sound issues like missing sounds. But the story was compelling enough, the acting was great in most cases, and the script was solid. It was definitely a worthwhile action film!

I've seen it twice. I wasn't too impressed the first time, so went for a second viewing hoping I'd 'understand' it the second time.

Nope.

One could take it either as a compliment or a horrible slight when I say that Love Exposure was 'typically Japanese', as far as contemporary cinema goes.
Got to say, after watching several films over the last few weeks, I forgot how good some can be. Definitely need to make more time, more regularly to watch them!
Anyone want to make a prediction on how much Avengers will earn before it simmers? It's nearly recouped its budget ($178 million out of $200+ million) and it's only been out for 4 days. And hasn't yet been released in the U.S.

Wonder if it will surpass The Dark Knight ($1 billion) and Spiderman 3 ($893 million). And how The Dark Knight Rises will fare in comparison.

I think Avengers can make $1billion worldwide. Had a great opening weekend with NO Russia, China or Japan and in the US it will be huge. :smile:

I need to give this a second chance.
The first time I saw it was in the cinema, not knowing a thing about it - and I found it seriously boring.
Javier Bardem was great, but I have a fair bit more patience and appreciation for things these days so I'll need to re-watch it.
Watched Mean Streets. It belongs to that class of films which includes Goodfellas, Casino, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

The Avengers was the best Avengers movie they could have made. It was great. Everything that involved Mark Ruffalo or the Hulk were the highlights for me. It's not in the best films ever, it is basically fight scenes with a bit of banter inbetween, but it's a lot better than I ever imagined. It's a shame that only regular comic readers will get the after credits sequence though.
Cabin in the Woods is dreadful! Avoid. One of the worst films I have witnessed in my 28 year lifespan, lol.
Just discovered it was written by the same schmuck behind Cloverfield, which I also thought was utter crap...all makes sense lol.
I disagree completely. I thought The Cabin in the Woods was genius.

I dont generally watch horror films and I am not a big fan.

But I loved Cabin in the Woods as it is almost a comedy too and it is just great!
