I personally think a good way to split it so people can get the support they need but also so that people can talk to people who understand how they feel, would be if we had a support thread and a chat thread!

Because it is often difficult with wanting to ask questions and get support and feeling others questions are getting over looked .... but also I think people just need to be able to talk to people who understand how they feel about everyday difficult things, because people IRL don't always understand these things! But I don't know just an idea!

Sticking my 2 cents in - I kinda like it the way it is now because it's easiest to socialise. I think we're welcoming to all newcomers, and those too anxious to post in here often seem to create their own threads instead, and can then be led here if appropriate/what they want.

I realise that this thread isn't solely for the purpose of socializing, but we do have quite a community built up here and I think it would be a great shame to fragment it. It's true that there are other mediums for chatting to people, like skype etc. but DepSoc is a low maintenance way of touching base, of seeking some reassurance and support, and to come to have a bit of a laugh or chill out.
Plus the Skype smilies are rubbish compared to some of the gems on here.
I think the thread is fine as it is. Surely tonight's discussion about PDs links in with the thread as a whole. We discuss a whole range of problems (from depression, to psychosis, to dissocation). But to make separate threads for each illness would be a huge waste of time and space.
The community can still stay. I'm not suggesting a separate thread for everything, but more of a general thread. I love everyone on here but I'm not sure if things are good how it is or healthy for everyone. This thread is also increasingly giving the mods a lot of work. It might be more appropriate to have a general thread, with great community, than carry on the way we have been here.
