Late riser - late to bed :s-smilie:

Does anyone know what Roscoe & Gladstone (R&G) is like? I put it down as my third choice, what's like compared to Derby & Rathbone, or any other halls?
Muchos appreciate x

D&R and R&G are pretty much the same, they're on the same site (Greenbank) and the rooms are all pretty much the same. You'll like it up there, the grounds are really nice.

Does anyone know whether you can change your preferences for accommodation? I think I want to swap Vine Court for a different one but I can't seem to find a way to do so!

If you can't get back onto your application to change it, maybe email [email protected] to see how you can change your preference

Hey,

I posted a thread a while ago but it didn't get a response.

Anyway, I was just wondering what everyone thought the nicest private halls are? I'm a 2nd year student going into my 3rd year in September and I live at home at the moment. I'm a bit isolated with friends and stuff because I live away from home so don't really have anyone to move in with so I was looking at private halls.

There are loads though, and I've read good and bad about all of them. Ideally I'd want to be with other 2nd/3rd year students, and not pay more than £100 a week or so (with bills), although I could maybe stretch a bit further with the 43 week lets. I'd also like a double or 3/4 size bed if possible, seeing as the normal halls beds are often very narrow. Does anyone know of any way I could guarantee any of these things? And which are the nicest private halls, or the ones to avoid?

Thanks

ed: I want to add as well that I might not be able to move out of home (financially) so this may be a late decision, like in July or August, hopefully before A level results and stuff though. How likely would it be that there would even be free rooms in private halls at that time?

i dont rly think i'll be of much help because i'm not actually at lpool uni yet aha! (starting in september).. but looking at websites with private accommodation places on (such as prospect point/liberty living) almost all of their rooms for 2012/13 are sold out already! it might be worth emailing or ringing up some private companies and explaining your situation and whether it'd be worth applying for accommodation now.. you might have to pay a deposit but you might also be able to get it back if you somehow find that you can't take up your place? like i said i'm probably no help! you might be best contacting them yourself  xx

As i'm quite shy, i'm looking to move into the Carnatic site so that i'm forced to make new friends/come out of my shell. I stayed at Rankin Hall (Carnatic Site) for a week once and, although it's nowhere near luxury, it seemed like somewhere you would have a laugh. The bus journey was one major put off for me, but buses leave every 5-20 minutes and take 15-25 minutes (Much quicker than it would if i was to stay at home). Although there is cheaper accommodation that £119 p/w, at least you're guaranteed 2 meals a day! so as far as i'm aware (at the minute), my options are looking like:
1st: Rankin Hall/Morton House
2nd: Rankin Hall/Morton House
3rd: McNair Hall

Inoinoo like half an hour bus but il rather stay there after all the bad stuff i've heardd ahaa, its probably all lies i've heard but it put me off, it'll be worth it to have a better time i think  prospect points still my third option thoo x
I applied for Prospect Point as my first accommodation choice, it's much better than the others! It's not like there's gonna be no one there. There will be plenty of people to socialise with, and you get an en-suite and it's 5 minutes away from uni! I think it's a bit daft to go off campus really because it looks a bit crappy and you share a bathroom with others, plus the cost of a bus pass and a 30 minute+ wait for a bus.

I love prospect point. Maybe I'll see you there!
I've applied for on campus, heard bad stuff that put me off but I reckon it'll be fine..and we will probably meet people on our course that live off campus and go to their parties

I've got a conditional for English & History! Derby & Rathbone 1st & 2nd choice, love that I could get a mini campus AND a city uni all in one. Plus, it's nearer to the hockey pitches  Always a good point.
I'm planning to (hopefully) cycle to and from uni, seems like the bus service isnt all that, anyone know how quick it is to cycle or if its even possible?

You'll probably be able to cycle it in 30-45 mins (depending how quick you are, it's about 2.5 miles).
