Take a year out for the greater good?

I have an offer to study History at a Red-Brick uni this September, however I am starting to have second thoughts. It seems like I want to go into accountancy however I never applied for this during the 2012 cycle as most good places want B minimum in Maths GCSE (I was restricted to the foundation tier by teachers at school, so only got a C).

I know History grads do make it into accountancy, in fact quite a few do, but I'm starting to think it's a bit silly spending 3 years of your life doing something, only to turn and go into something you could have done 3 years earlier?

If I got AAA/AAB, does anyone know how unis feel about GCSE retakes so late on? I know they can be fussy with A-level resists, wondering if it's the same for GCSE. Tbh I never even sat the higher paper, so technically it would be my first shot, if you get me. I take 3 traditional subjects as well, all of them essay subjects however.

    Any thoughts?

might do, but I think they like a 'B' because it proves that you can handle slightly more technical things than basic maths, but I don't think A+F gets too mathsy other than the basics.

Will probably send an email, I've found Sheffield and Southampton ask for a B at GCSE and AAB so they're potentials.
