What do middle class people do in their spare time?

I already know that upper class people like riding horses and killing foxes, and that people from the lower orders like smoking and playing bingo. But what do middle class people do for hobbies? I'm on my Gap year and I can't seem to find a job, so I'm wanting to know of a good hobby.

Stamp collecting, trainspotting. Or so I heard, don't really hear much of the outside world in the bingo hall. That's just what I've heard from old John while havin a fag outside.

Are there any sports you like (either watching or that you enjoyed when you were at school)? Maybe learn to play an instrument? (The guitar is pretty popular and it's cheap-ish to buy one and start to learn compared to other instruments.)

As for not being able to find a job, have you walked in to every high street store or shops nearby your house and asked to speak to the manager to see if there are any going? Most jobs aren't advertised, you know.

Most jobs are offered to friends of colleagues or from asking around whether said person knows someone who would be good at the job (from word of mouth).

Often they're advertised in workplace notice boards, and current employees are just given extra hours (this is especially true for min. wage jobs).

Even min. wage jobs are sought after these days. It's not difficult for an employer to get someone to take up a job offer without them having to bother advertising in the first place.

EDIT: I used to work in a well know high street retailer and as part of the application process people applying would have to score above a certain mark in the pre-interview online questionnaire ('What would you do in this scenario?' type questions). Another guy that was hired at the same time as me told our supervisor his gf had applied, the supervisor checked on the system at work what she got in the questionnaire (the girl didn't even pass) but was given an interview and a job the following week.

In general, they do the same things everyone else does.
Go out with friends, socialise, play video games, read, travel, sports, musical instruments, volunteering/charity work etc.

I suppose the "middle class" flavour of it is the fact that they do some of these things in a more expensive way. For example, rather than playing a £50 acoustic guitar, it might be an £800 violin. They might go out to fancy restaurants rather than to McDonalds. They might join a tennis club rather than kicking a ball around a car park using coats for goalposts. They'll travel on a higher budget etc.

Nothing overly surprising really.

You forgot Keane or listening to radio 4. Then there's the holidays in Cornwall, Tuscany or certain parts of France. If they follow football in London it's usually the Arsenal.
