Hahaha (: (:
My preparation is going fine, al-hamduillah. I finished with Thermal yesterday, and I might finish Nuclear. But I don't get the Nuclear Reactor??
I didnt go to SHM yett.
But I think you have to memorize themm.
What book are you using??

i dont think we need to know a lot of detail about it!

i just know that we have only made a fission reactor, a fusion reractor is still impossible..

fission reactor :-

a fast neutron strikes the heavy element disintegrating it into smaller nuclie and multiple neutrons which start this disintegration process again...

moderator :- it is a rod made up of graphite usually, it slows down exxcessively fast neutrons in order for them to be absorbed in the heavy atom.

control rod :- this rod is made up of boron or cadmium. this rod ABSORBS neutron in order to halt the reaction from going on happenin . thus it effectively stops the fission reaction, it is a very crucial part as fission keeps on producing neutrons which can keep on bombarding with elements becoming uncontrollable ! thus a control rod is necessary, IN an atomic bomb , a control rod is absent and thus fission reactions reach to such a state that the huge amount of released energy results in explosion.

FUSION reactors arent possible still, as a very high temperature and pressure is needed for successful fusion, such strong reactors cannot be made, also the density of atoms should be very high and thus it is not possible for a fusion reactor to function properly in near future.
