Question about UMS/Raw marks.

Just now, I had a look at the above link, and particularly at the column 'F965/02'.

The charts in that link show that Raw marks are usually higher than the UMS Marks. e.g. For an A, you needed 67 or more Raw but this translated into only 64 or more UMS marks.

So, say I got a Raw mark 79/80 on my coursework, does that mean I probably won't get as many UMS marks?

Also, how're you supposed to get max (80/80) UMS marks if UMS marks are usually lower than Raw marks?

If someone could explain this to me I'd really appreciate it.

100% UMS is calculated by doubling the distance between the A boundary and the B boundary and adding it onto the A boundary.

In this case the distance is 8. 8*2=16 Add that onto 64 and you get 80, which in this case if full marks anyway.

Hence, if you get 79/80 on your coursework, that is 12/13 of the way between the A boundary and the full UMS boundary (80/80 in this case). Hence your UMS score will be 12/13 of the way between 64/80 and 80/80. Therefore your score will be 78.8/80.

Just to note, if you calculate 100% UMS to be above full raw marks, you assume that 100% UMS is equal to 100% raw marks.

The distance is 9, so 100% UMS is 67+(9*2), which is 85/80...?

re-read your post: So since the above is above full raw marks, 100% UMS is equal to 80/80.

By the way, I think you looked at the wrong row when arriving at the 78.8 number.

My coursework is f965/01, not f964/02. My first post previously said f965/02 which may of led you to look at the wrong row, I'm guessing.

Do you mind re-working the numbers using the numbers at the beginning of this post? Thanks.
