Monday's are usually decent with rubix having events like electro/dance dj's doing sets or theme nights like 999. Also the town is decent on monday with places like legion doing a different theme inside each monday and its cheaper on monday too. Theres also spoons which is allways decent no matter what the day.

Wednesday's are decent with rubix doing citrus nights where its free before 11 and then £1.50 drinks on certain things (they did vodka and mixer once which included monster and that was decent!)

Friday is the main rubix night with the foam parties/theme nights/special guests/special dj's all then. Prices are decent too. Also if its getting to packed up on the dancefloor then you can just go downstairs to the living room which usually has smaller bar que's and has a smaller but less packed dancefloor (litrally no one knows you can go downstairs thats why its so quiet!).Saturday in the town is just standard but its not student aimed so the prices are higher but theres more things.
Casino in the town is also open friday/saturday and its allright but usually one of the more expensive clubs (they charged my mate £3.50 for an apple sourz shot) so its better to go to the spoons next door or pre drink (4 shots for a fiver or 2 pitchers for a tenner!) to save your self money
Dont ever go to Dusk in the town....seriously £6 entry and it stinks inside, along with the rediculous prices they charge
Theres also chancellors on campus which is right next to the student union club rubix and that does drink offers every day and is good for pre drinking.

The main thing is (aslong as you live on campus) is that you can easily pre drink with your mates cheaply and this saves you money when you go out. Also the town is really close to campus (no more then 15 min walk) so you dont need a taxi ever.

but yeah town is decent same with on campus club. Its nothing like a major city or places like leeds/southampton/cardiff but its decent for its size - easy to get to - fairly large choice - allways something on (but your seriously not going to go out anymore then 3 days a week, any more and its stupidly pricey/demanding on the body) - decent prices - also if you do end up having a **** night you can just turn round head home and rave there!

There's no point hiding the fact that Guildford is hardly a town with a great nightlife. It's certainly not comparable to London, Brighton or Manchester for obvious reasons (it's 65,000 residents are largely conservative and quite old).

However it is what you make of it. There's still a few clubs in town, and Rubix has a good atmosphere. Also being quite close to the centre of town makes it an ideal Uni for spending the night on town, whereas Sussex university for example, whilst at Brighton, is miles from the city centre.
I've heard that there is an open mic night at the union (well it might be the bar) as well as an acoustic music night, both of which are quite up my street! How much is a pint at the bar in comparison to in town?

Open Mic Night every Thursday. Quiz night, rock n roll bingo alternate every tuesday night, with first tuesday of every month being comedy night also in Channies.

If you're after clubs, either stay in Rubix, or train it in to London. If you're more of a bar person Guildford is perfect. Spoons, Legion, The Star, Fahrenheit 55, Tudor Lounge, Bar Med, Tickled Ivory. The Stoke and The Drummond are amazing too for a pub feel, 5 mins from town centre and both do amazing food too. If you like your live music, Say Something in Rubix every term, or The Boileroom just outside town, or there's a place by the train station which does live music too, can't remember the name of it though.

Do they still do coach trips to Kingston Oceana? Heard some people mention it but never actually seen anything about it?

They certainly did two years ago when I was on campus in first year. Used to be posters up around campus advertising. Not heard anything last year or this year but to be expected when you then live off campus..

Not sure if they are still run, Goku used to run some (most of?) them, he graduated 2 years ago, I think someone carried them on for a bit last year (10-11) after that not sure...

Side note, if you (alicex3) wanted to start them up again I bet they would be welcome, people have contacts for it already, shouldn't be too hard.

In my opinion nightlife is as good ad the people you're out with. Our students union is pretty good compared to most and town is great on Monday/Thursday. London isn't worth the effort unless you have VIP and a friend to stay with.
Not that I'm biased or anything but FYI, the ski club usually have a discount card for free entry around all bars/clubs in town which pays for itself within a few trips.

I live in Guildford, if you're after a clubbing lifestyle, Guildford isn't for you. However it is not shocking, it's decent and that's about it. Basically, just don't expect anything special before you arrive. I think most people know what Guildford is like before they arrive in Surrey.
Epic! This sounds great  i like a chilled out vibe, live music and cool bars! cannot go wrong with a big spoons either
