Hi Jammie, looking forward to meeting you in September. Your degree leader is Matt Grimes and he is a cool guy. Watch out for your invitation to the School of Media Online 'Level Up' Summer Camp. You will receive this in your Welcome letter to the School of Media. Staff and students have designed this together to help you find people on your specialist pathway and make a few friends before you get here. It is managed and run by some of our current students, so you can expect to get information on the student experience from those who are currently living it.

One of our Level Up Mentors, Amie Hession, is a current Music Industries specialist, so watch out for her and pick the brains out of her  She will also be around in Induction Week, so you will be able to meet her in person.
See you very soon

Hi Laura,
Make sure that you sign up to the 'Level Up' online Summer School of Media induction. You will get an invitation with your Welcome Letter. The programme is designed to help you make friends before you get here and to 'have a go' at some analysis. The site is managed by our current students, who will be able to tell you more about the specialist pathways. The staff bit comes when you get here, but we would rather you speak to our students about their experiences of the course first. There will also be an opportunity to read through the Options Handbook and see some films and extracts from the degree pathway leaders.
So much in there, it is better that you just sign up for it, when the envelope lands on your doormat. This will be shortly after results day, with the online programme starting w/c 20th August 2012.
There will also be a programme of activity throughout Induction Week w/c 17th September 2012 when you get here to help you with these choices.
See you very soon,
Kerry

I'm warming to the idea of PR more and more so I think I'm going to do it  Lucky that you've already got a head start getting experience then!! I get my grades on the 16th (A level results day) I'm getting really nervous now but feel pretty confident (i think haha). I can't wait for September now!!!!!!!!!!

I got all paranoid and emailed the accomodation people and they said that you get accomodation offers when your results have been confirmed, so that should be any time after resuts day for me. I seriously hope all the rooms in oscott haven't gone, really don't want to have to get a bus there and back everyday!

Yeah same with me tbh, but i rang them up haha! i have had to travel around 90 mins every day when attended college so im not really big about traveling by buses at uni! Plus, I just wanna roll outta bed and have like a 3 min walk to my classes haha! I hope the rooms haven't all gone either, or get placed in one that is based around the other university! Oscott was one of the nicest I seen when went on the opening day so it would be ideal

I'm not big on the busses either, plus it just makes things more expensive! If you have a massive gap between lectures and stuff it would be nice to be in walking distance from halls so you can go back for a bit instead of hanging around killing time.

:facepalm:I didn't think about that haha! That would be highly annoying if I'm honest.. A majority of people who are probz doing Media and Communications are also going to be living at Oscott Gardens most likely so being away from everyone else doing the same course would be a bit 'urrggh' as well. Apparently, looking at the website - they say if coming from somewhere else and going to be living in Birmingham, they definitely have to give you an Accomodation place! I didn't think about the extra costs either for the buses.. I guess if you have to pay for buses as well, you probably have like a tenner left to live on for a week.
Hi guys, I will be entering my third year of the course and a part of the LUVM scheme, so if you have any questions feel free to ask away and I will try and help
I'm doing media and communications broad course  getting really excited now!
