Please help. Numerical test help needed.

Hi guys,

can someone please explain to me how to calculate the answer to this question.

Assuming a constant exchange rate, what is the projected value of consumer foods exports from singapore in y+4 (in $m SGD)

You are given these figures. Y+4 is 90 million HKD

The exchange rates are as follows.
$4.5 Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) = $1 Singapore Dollarr (SGD)
$1.6 Singapore Dollar (SGD) = $1 US Dollar (USD)

What will the answer to this question be? and how do you calculate it?

To clarify the question: You are trying to express 90m HKD in terms of SPD where 4.5 = 1 respectively?

It's just ratios :smile:

4.5 : 1
90,000,000 : x

You have to find what has been done to get from 4.5 to 90,000,000 first. In this case, 4.5 has been multiplied by 'z'.

4.5 times z = 90,000,000
z = 90,000,000 divided by 4.5
z = 20,000,000

Now you know 'z' you can times the right hand side of the ratio - in this case 1 - by z to find x.

x = 20,000,000 times 1
x = 20,000,000 SPD
