Hey Max, hope you're well and all. Sorry for my late replies, comes with working dirtily long hours.

No idea, I heard a rumour end of June? I wish they'd tell me so I could start budgeting / making plans. Do you know when freshers starts?

Yeah snap, I haven't had a bath in my house since I was 5. Dale may have been a mistake hahah.

To be honest, I live in Liverpool but never went to Liverpool UNI, but all my friends did and have stated in the halls there. Greenbank halls are awful, as are Carnatic. Very aged!

Best halls are in the town center IMO

And to all who are wondering about accommodation you only find out after your A level results.

Hey all  I lived in the city centre for the foundation degree, I found it was a lot easier for me to get to Carmel, but saying that majority doing the course lived in university halls so missed out slightly on the socialising part.

If anyone is worried about travelling from Liverpool to St. Helens, from my experience, it's better to have an accommodation nearer the town's center and get a bus pass. Besides, lessons in Carmel for Foundation Degree starts at 9:20. Also, in a week you would only have to come in at that time once or twice. Most of the time it's later in the morning or in the day.

I'm studying the foundation at Carmel.
I had looked in to living in st helens but every single person I have spoke to has said its a dump and not to live there. So unless theres a mass of people looking to house share in st helens it looks like i'm going to be living in vine court.

Thanks Chris,

How many hours would you typically have to be at Carmel a week? Is it 5 days a week?

Well it would depend on which course you are doing. For example, I was doing Biological Sciences Foundation degree. The subjects there are Biology, Chemistry, Applications of Biology and Half-Maths. In a week supposedly, you would do 4 Biology, 4 Chemistry, 3 Applications and 2 lessons of Half-Maths. Sometimes, in Half-Maths you would only do 1 lesson instead of 2 because the teacher is able to teach a syllabus in an hour. For those who has Biology as their major subject you would certainly have Biology on a Thursday because there would is a 2 hour slot which would be used most of the time for the experiments.

In a day, three is the maximum lessons you can have. Just hope that your lessons are not too far apart! I had a day where I have to be there at 9:20 and my next lesson would start at 3.

It's hard to tell how many days a week you will be in. However for certain, you will have at least a day where you have 3 lessons and a day where you only have 1.

do you know when we are assigned room numbers, or whether we turn up and pick our rooms?!

Hello,

I am in desperate need of finding a replacement tenant for a room I have with Cosmo Student homes. The price of the room is £77 a week for 42 weeks self-catered (£3,214 for the year I think in instalments of £1,078) and that includes all bills and internet, as well as a deposit of £250. The flat is part of a 'halls' consisting of different universities and years within Liverpool, and is situated right in the centre of the city, about 10-15 minutes walk from John Moores and Liverpool Uni.

If anyone is interested/knows of anyone interested please feel free to message me! [And know that you'd be saving my life literally].

Quite a few people seem to have their room numbers so i'm guessing we get sent them before we arrive, but dont quote me on that.
