I also need help on understanding how to analyse poetry!

When analysing a poem take these things into consideration:

Rhyming scheme,
Metre of the poem,
Syllables,
Assonance.

There are many more things you should take into consideration, such as the language used etc. What I have mentioned above, according to my teacher, should get you the highest marks? I will post the other stuff on the thread when I find my poetry analysis guide.

Good Luck!

Heya, been asked this alot recently so I hope you don't mind a copy paste of my response to the same question

Basic check list:

Form
- Count how many syllables each line has.
- What is the 'shape' of the poem?
- Does it rhyme?
- Do any of the above conform to a particular style?

Content
- Are any words repeated often?
- Is the poem 'set' anywhere?
- What do the last lines of the poem alone tell us?

These are the basic questions to ask each poem. Hope this helps!
