The regulations are here (http://www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/ice---instructions-for-conducting-examinations ), first pdf, para 2.7. The regs only say you may move exams if there is more than 3 hours, so it appears not to be a right though almost all centres do it.

My exams that clash both add up to 3 Hours and 30 Minutes.
So I should be able to do one in the morning and one in the afternoon,

I luckily managed to get through my A Levels without any clashes like this, but a friend of mine had the issue, and was made to sit them straight after each other. I guess it's up to the school what they do, but you could always question their decision if you want (although be prepared for them not to change their mind). They will be thinking about purely what's easier for them to do, but just point out your reasons for preferring another option. Obviously if there are a lot of people who have the issue, your choices may be limited.

On a bit of a side note, I had a friend at uni who somehow managed to end up having to sit 3 x 3 hour exams in one day, which I imagine was a bit of a ball ache. They weren't clashes though, just so happened to have an exam in every session that day.

I dont think you will be allowed any notes if that's what you mean by revision..

I've got 2 maths exams clashing (C3 and FP1), you'd think that OCR would TRY not to put 2 maths modules on at the same time? apparently not as this exact thing happen last May to me. :confused:

At my college, and therefore what will happen in a couple of week is I will sit one first (usually the one with more candidates) in a room by myself or with other clash students, I do the first exam, they collect in the papers and distribute the next one. by the time this is done, 10 minutes have passed and they set you on your way with the second.. fun right?

If you have exams with a short break then you are highly unlikely to be allowed revision notes in between. If you have a 'proper' clash and an exam is moved to the other session then you should be able to revise in the break.

Until 2008 when GCEs were last reformed, all AS units for a subject (apart from Maths as they added up to more than 3 hours) had to be timetabled in the same session so 3 hours was routine.

You're fine then - it's just something that isn't normally feasible when there is a group of people in the exam room.

You'll be fine! I had 3 exams in one day on the 16 May 2012. And it was RE, Politics and English Lit. I got an A in all 3. I had exams from the morning until like 3 in the afternoon. Just make sure your confident with them and relax. Don't stress too much and you'll be fine. Make sure you eat a bar of chocolate in the break as well. I also had another clash in my May exams, which was Maths (C2) and RE (paper 2) . I seem to do better on my exams with clashes than the ones without clash. haha

I think that would come down to how nice your invigilators are, which means that's probably a no, they don't really want to be hanging around for any longer than they already have to

The regs says that centres may give candidates a 'short break' but the practicalities probably mean that you won't get one as it will disturb the other people in the exam room. However, you can try asking.

Doesn't your timetable tell you which you're doing first? Go and see the exams officer at the start of term and see what can be arranged - if you're the only one left then a short break shouldn't be a problem (if it's really stuffy I've even taken people for a short, escorted walk outside if there's only a few of them).

I always used to ask candidates with a clash what order they wanted to do the exams in - I'm sure if you ask early they will put the Chemistry on first.

For me? Because both exam will still be happening at the same time obviously, probably in the same room too... And they'll both finish at the same time so I'll be left like :redface:

The exams officer won't finalise the entries until about 21 March, and won't start doing the seating until after that (probably the summer term since it's an early Easter) so ask at the end of the term or he'll forget.
