You need to read the guy thread to understand: D

It's all about abstaining in order to somehow increase motivation, confidence and I guess willpower. Apparently masturbation using porn is harmful as porn creates an addiction due to the systemic release of dopamine in the reward centre of the brain, etc...

I am sorry but I can perhaps understand (especially when certain types of porn gets in with the mix) however masturbation is a way to explore yourself sexually. Explore your body!
Especially for women it is that power over your body and being able to find what you enjoy sexually!
Don't let boys have some perceived title that they are more sexual and get all the fun.

There are much more harmful things out there with addictive qualities which actually wastes time..... like looking at funny cats all day for light entertainment....

"It's all about abstaining in order to somehow increase motivation, confidence and I guess willpower"

There is a flip side to this and masturbating can build confidence and is great for removing taboos and allowing freedom.

Nevertheless, maybe my view is tainted by my sadness towards sexual inequalities... I never liked the whole -boy gets porn- -girl gets tampon-
... Well, this thread has really taken off like the men's.

The girls must just be too horny! Or female masturbation is still taboo and so people aren't willing to say they do it?

Can we masturbate with our partners?

Why would you not masturbate? It is a healthy activity and releases sexual tension? This is a rather odd thread?

You can masturbate each other, but not yourself.

So far there's just me and BettyRoseXD signed up for the girls (and I don't do it anyway, so it's not like I'm giving anything up). The guys are now up to more than 50. IMO it's a lot harder for them ('blue balls' and risk of nocturnal emissions do deal with). Surely more of us can do this than them? More sign-ups PLEASE!

Am I allowed to tease anyone that signs up?

The point isn't that masturbating is gross so don't do it, the point is that it might be good for you to do it less. At the very least it's a hard challenge. There is no challenge in signing up to not do something you don't do.

Lets be honest no-ones going to sign up when the OP has just told everyone they think masturbating is gross. In fact I might just do it more because of that to make up for all the women out there who are still sexually repressed enough to think that it is wrong.

I think you're confusing masturbation with chocolate.

Ooh the guys are gonna love this! A bunch of horney girls masturbating each other because they're not allowed to masturbate themselves, lol.

I've never masturbated, I find the idea gross, so I know for certain I won't be doing it in 2013, so I'll be the first to sign up. Anyone else care to join me

It is truely weird that you want to make a pledge to avoid something that you already do not do. Isn't that a bit like a non-smoker joining a 'Stop Smoking' thread? Or someone who thinks eating meat is disgusting joining a thread promising to abstain from eating meat? Or someone who swims twice a week making a new years resolution to swim twice a week?

Girls masturbating each other? WTF? No, that's not the idea! I meant girls can be masturbated by their boyfriends and can return the favour, but that they can't be with their boyfriends, both masturbating themselves.

Yes, my pledge isn't anything special because I don't masturbate. But I wanted to start a thread to encourage other girls not to do it, like the one that the guys have got going. So I said at the outset that I wouldn't be flicking the bean or running down the battery on a rabbit so people wouldn't think I was a hypocrite who'd be jerking off at the first opportunity while asking others to abstain.

Never said it was wrong! I've certainly done my fair share, probably enough for 2 lifetimes, hehe.

So yeah it's not about stopping masturbation or physical stimulation on the basis that it is wrong, immoral or somehow bad for your health (it's not). It's about stopping what you associate masturbation with and the effects this has on the body. For most men, that's porn.

Porn is good though?
It is just when porn is illegal or has been produced without willing participants.
However there is so much porn out there which expands sexual 'horizons' and also is great for curiosity ^^
There is also an annoying amount of porn which is made for the male market where the poor girls look bored/in-pain.
So why can't for 2013 we just watch good porn without harmful messages and allow for sexual freedom?
Forgive me for not feeling particularly motivated to stop by someone who thinks it's gross and doesn't do it anyway...

And as for banning mutual masturbation with a partner, I'm struggling to find the negatives in this activity when it's done as part of 'having sex with the men we love'. Where are the detrimental side-effects in this? It's a natural part of sex for most people.

I do not feel at all guilty, repressed or lacking in energy thanks to either solo or mutual masturbation, and until I am given better motivation and reason so stop, I will lie back and enjoy a happy 2013.

Well porn in itself is fine, it's not unhealthy to watch it, and it can certainly be interesting during sexual encounters with a partner .

It's more the compulsive desire to watch porn in order to satiate physical needs, to the point that anything else other than porn becomes much more dull and plain. Causing various problems, one of which is lack of stimulus during sexual encounters without porn.
Did someone call me?

If this is about changing a person's energies from being selfish or non-productive to things that are positive, it matters a lot whether you and your BF masturbate each other, or yourselves. The former is a lot more fun, IMO.

I cannot say I have ever had this, though I have heard it being used as a argument before.
Porn just is exciting and gives some intriguing ideas  It might be late at night you find something interesting and you send it to your boyfriend and you both have happy time when you cannot see each other.
Or you send it to a friend knowing she'll have a great night being single.
The big difference is when you get with your partner love gets in the mix and that is something porn cannot create. Porn is fun, crazy. But being with a lover is fun and crazy and beautiful and intimate and not porn, more than porn.
I really think there are much better things to do for 2013 because I am so positive about sexual curiosity and I know there is still many girls out there who are not getting the equal sexual freedom to men!
Can we just maybe use more fruitful resources which have good messages, or maybe read some good sexy literature? Give money to good authors who write for sexual freedom (not fifty shades of grey....)
