UCAS Adjustment

I found out that if I 'meet or exceed' my conditional firm offer than I can enter adjustment on UCAS which means I can bid for a place on a course at a "better" university i.e. higher requirements, better for that course etc. does anyone have any additional details e.g. will my conditional firm choice know I'm trying to go somewhere else?! that sort of thing :smile: thanks
Are you sure? This is the first time I've heard of it...

Here's TSR's guide to the whole thing;

But a very limited number of unis enter adjustment. It's not like you'll be able to get into Oxbridge, LSE, UCL etc.

It does exist! Not many people use it though which is why some people are sure it's not possible. I was talking to my friend the other day and he was saying you can't! But i knew there was a way :P I linked the facts on it below.

thanks for the info! I was hoping that King's College may take me if I exceed my ABB offer for somewhere else. I didn't realise that the Uni has to be entered on it though to see you...I suppose I could always call them up on results day (or the day after)

have just seen your second link which is really helpful thanks! hopefully as King's were on it in 2012 they will be on it in 2013.

Sorry for all the bombarding questions...does anyone know how flexible they will be? Obviously the University will know more about which applicants they will take etc. once they have seen everyone's results, but as I am applying for a course involving people, most of my choices have asked for an interview - would I be expected to travel to London within the 5 day window that I have to change course?

Does anyone know if you do decide to apply through adjustment if you loose your conditional firm offer you already have?

no, for adjustment you keep your offer. for clearing you need to give the offer up

Thank You! And clearing is when you don't get the grades you need for your CF isn't it?

yup, or if you got no offers/didn't like any, or if you applied late.

basically Adjustment is iff you exceed your firm offer and Clearing is every other reason.

Last year some place held "adjustment" days on the Saturday (some also hold "clearing" days) and people had the opportunity to visit etc

I guess if an interview is needed it could happen then, or at another time around then
