OP does not drink.
Goes up in steps. You're an adult compared to someone who's ~15-16, but not compared to someone like me who's 22, and then I'm a baby in some terms compared to people in their late 20s who themselves are termed as 'young professionals' in lettings adverts.

You are fine. I am almost double your age and I think life can get better if you choose to focus on the bright side.
The extra responsibilty may seem daunting but as others have said, you would be given access to a whole set of new and exciting experiences without having a guardian to approve or allow. This sort of freedom is a luxury to most people in the world.
