All of the innate behaviours present in humans are the result of evolution by natural selection, and as such can be investigated by asking what benefit the adoption of a given behaviour has. Believed to be responsible for the effect is the release of the chemical prolactin, an inhibitor of dopamine release (dopamine is a key chemical involved in feelings of sexual arousal).

An interesting related phenomenon is the 'Coolidge effect', whereby males express a renewed interest in sex if introduced to a new partner even in this period of inhibited sexual desire. This makes the case fairly clear cut in terms of the natural selective pressures involved: sex with the same partner immediately after ejaculation is a waste of time and energy, whereas sex with a new partner will not be.

This was a mechanism we evolved in order to stop us having sex constantly. After sex, it was necessary to become disinterested, or else we'd continue seeking pleasure from it to the detriment of other survival/reproductive needs.

There's plenty wrong with being a feminist. Having a distorted and myopic understanding of history, manipulating statistics, misandry, silencing tactics, failure to acknowledge men's issues despite claiming to be for `equality', failure to take a joke, general inability to argue logically, etc etc.
