Were the Golf G60, G60 Rallye and Golf G60 Limited all officially sold in the UK?

Were the Golf G60, Golf G60 Rallye and Golf G60 Rallye ever sold officially in the UK? I have heard that the Golf G60 Rallye was imported in the UK in limited numbersby Volkswagen UK with anywhere between 70 to 100 models quoted in books on the Golf that were officially imported into the UK. Though I can't find any information relating to the standard Golf G60 or Golf G60 Limited.

Can anyone confirm if all these cars were only built and sold in left hand drive form only? Even the few Golf G60 Rallyes that were officially sold here, we're they all left hand drive as well? Would the Golf G60 Rallyes that were officially sold here have had speedometers reading in miles per hour instead of kilometres per hour?

After doing some research, I can confirm it was built in LHD as standard. The Rallye were officially imported, as you say, and were only imported for special orders.

I've heard of conversions people did with GTi Golfs and swapped the engines over, so they'd obviously be RHD here.

I am not totally sure if it was sold in the UK as a RHD model, but there are a few about:

Quite a few conversions too, (i.e. same spec but not a genuine G60 model) but it seems the "dubbers" have got their hands on most of them unfortunately. If you keep an eye on the owners clubs and specialist websites (PH classifieds?) then original ones do pop up every now and then.

LHD is apparently not too much of an issue once you get used to it, but I can see why you would be reluctant to try it. As for the clocks reading in km/h rather than mph then I would have thought that would be an easy conversion with a set of GTI clocks.

If I come across any original ones I will post them here for you!

Thanks, any information on whether the standard Golf G60 was ever officially imported to this country or the Golf G60 Limited?
