On the Facebook group (when applications were still open) they said it was more likely that posts would be removed rather than added at this stage...so I doubt any new ones will pop up. Shame, could do with some more cardiac science posts.
Yeah, its a long process to get funding for trainees, with preparation starting very early, so new posts aren't going to just spring up out of the blue.

I have a friend who failed the maths test, it cam up after she submitted and said something along the lines of sorry you have not met the minimum requirements so we will not be continuing with your application. I assume that means if you didn't get that message then you're ok.

Sorry for the double quote, I have no idea what happened!

oh thanks for that info, cant believe I passed (if its correct) sorry about your friend that didn't pass

I think I read somewhere that they aim to shortlist three applicants for every post regardless of specialty, and a reserve list is also drawn up equalling the number of posts available, for any interview places that are not taken up.
Hi All,

I was wondering whether any of you guys on hear have applied for Audiology this year. If so, what experience do you have?

Also, I saw a PDF online of the prospective dates for the assessment centre. Are these set in stone or subject to change do you reckon?

Thanks all

Yeah I guess I knew that, just wishful thinking!!

What's everyone opinions on the privatisation that is goin on? How many private labs are going to keep the clinical scientists from the scheme?im worried after 3 years of training there will be less posts than there are for the actual scheme!

can anyone tell me if i can do dentistry after a clinical scientist degree

You could do, I suppose, but you'd also need to do a degree in dentistry. Not to mention you'd need a degree to do the Clinical Scientist training course that we're discussing. Seems like a bit of a waste of your time if you want to be a dentist...

I have applied for Audiology this year. I've finished my degree in speech and language pathology with a 2:1, although I won't graduate formally til July this year. The degree isn't really a 'scientist' degree, so I'm not even sure if it's relevant for applying. Speech therapy and audiology are closely linked though, I had audiology modules during my course, for example, so I figured it was relevant from that.

No other audiology experience outside training to be a speech therapist though.

As for the dates, I'm not sure. I'd imagine they are probably subject to change until they start contacting applicants directly.
Interview dates have been released along with times and how many interviewees per post ...

Thanks for the info DoubleInfinity. I'm so anxious to get an interview. Been waiting 2 long years to apply!

Minimalist_ that experience is very relevent indeed. You should be able to stand a good chance. What regions did you choose? There were so many vacancies in south central...Hearing loss particularly prevelant?!

Anyone who attended the assessment centre last year got any tips?
****, 15 candidates for micro? It was 18 last time I saw that schedule. I've got no chance. Even if I do, my finals start 6 days later.

If anyone is interested it looks like some training posts in Wales have been advertised on the NHS jobs website. I can see adverts for Blood Sciences, Cellular Sciences, Audiology, Medical Physics, and Clinical Engineering

Edit: Sorry guys, there must be something wrong with what I have written. Didn't mean to cause any offence so if someone could point out what is wrong that would be much appreciated

I don't understand why you have been given a negative rating for this post, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have realised that Wales had finally advertised their posts! Thanks for that I appreciate it

Thanks bigbanggeek, my intentions were just to let everyone know as they haven't really publicised it.

I wonder how long it will take for them to shortlist STP candidates for interview. I am guessing we won't hear until early March as the first interviews seem to be mid March.

Ye I was surprised because usually with the medical physics/engineering posts they get put on the IPEM website but for Wales it wasn't there :s-smilie:

Hopefully they wont leave it too late in March otherwise the train tickets will be really expensive for those who will have interiews in the first few days
