I can only take one and I want to pursuit a career in mechanical engineering.

Advanced higher applied maths: mechanics or Advanced higher maths

It is possible but I am also choosing:

AH physics
H Business Management
+ the 2 maths courses if I chose both

or

AH physics
H Business Management
one of the maths courses
hospitality

should i go with the 1st option?

I think I'm gonna go with:

AH maths

AH physics
H business management

i want to take Higher business because I am doing int2 this year and I think I can achieve an A or a B at higher level.

From what I know AH level is the stuff that you learn in your first year at uni.

I dunno how to describe what level higher is at. :colondollar:

Yeah I think Highers are below A Levels and advanced highers are a wee bit above A levels

Aah, I see! Lets say H is AS level. And AH is first year uni?

If so, then your choices of AH Maths,Mechanics and Physics and H in Business Management is perfect!

Hmm...I suppose Highers could be considered roughly equivalent to AS levels.

It isn't going to make the slightest difference as long as you can get into university (or an apprenticeship), which you will with either advanced higher.

It's more important to do what you enjoy. However doing the first option opens up Universities in England (including Oxbridge, Imperial etc. Some of the best in the world for engineering)

AH Maths
And any other subject it wouldn't really matter too much not unless your applying in England then you'll need 3AH.

I've got my offers this year for engineering (albeit aeronautical) with AAAAB. Scottish Unis nearly all look at your Highers first sitting and if you fall below the entry req then you'll probably get a conditional on your AH's.

If you meet an unconditional offer then really AH maths & physics will only make your first year at uni that bit easier (not unless your applying for 2nd year entry then youll need atleast AA).
