Pope Francis I

Official - Pope Francis I now exists!

I just wanted to be first to say the name on TSR. So, what do we make of this new Pope?

His wikipedia entry is running slowly!

He's a Jesuit. He's a Conservative and although he is supposed to be pro- 'social justice', in practise he takes a reactionary approach to it.

BBC have just announced it. He would be the first Jesuit pope (as far as I know).

Actually, that's a good point - he might well act as a lobbyist for Kirchner, the Vatican wields a lot of diplomatic power.
He doesn't look that fun

Apparently there's 1.2 billion Catholics in the world, so clearly someone does. Though having said that I'm not sure why the media in this country are making such a big deal over it seeing as though the majority of the country isn't Catholic. The fact that he's the first South American pope does interest me somewhat, but other than that it does seem OTT to make such a fuss over the pope in the 21st century.
