Is this dress formal enough for a grad ball?

I'm looking for a dress for my grad ball in July (figured if I get one now it will reduce the chances of someone having the same one ) and I really like this one:

You can see a better pic here:

But I'm not sure if it's formal enough. I have been looking through my friends' grad ball pictures and it seems like a mixture of girls wearing long dresses and shorter more formal ones. I love maxi and mini but I hate 90% of dresses in between, particularly knee-length. I was originally looking for a floor-length proper ball gown type dress, but it's proving difficult to find one that doesn't look frumpy or too middle-aged. I do like this one though:

SO I have a few questions: Do you like either? Are they ok for a grad ball? Also are Little Mistress a good brand? I am worried the dresses might be a bit cheap looking.

Thanks!

Thank you! Which out of the 3 do you prefer? I don't know what to expect in terms of how formal it will be.. I'd rather be overdressed than under I suppose!

looool.. That's what I was thinking!

Sometimes dresses with that cut look nice.. but it needs to be shaped.. not just a slit in the middle of the chest..

Oh my god! Haha! Well if both of you thought that it must be bad! I'll try and find a shop selling it so I can try it on and see how it looks. I don't want to look like I'm wearing a giant vagina  Ahaha.

Thanks, I do like bright colours (especially orange! Yum!) but I am extremely pale and brights don't tend to look good on me. If you are looking for dresses that are short at the front and long at the back, you are in luck because that style is EVERYWHERE at the moment. Have you tried Lipsy? They had a few really nice ones like that. Also ASOS is always a good shout, I saw a few nice ones of that style there.

Yes definitley! Forever Unique do some beautiful dresses too, quite pricey but you can get a bargain on ebay.

I like the third one!
Definitely the 3rd one but maybe try a different style of dress altogether, try it on and see how it looks on YOU. I do like the 3rd one though
