I'm no expert on manga, particularly long lasting series, but on the off chance I'd recommend the following:

Gunslinger Girl

Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle

Rave Master

Hope something there takes your interest.

As for Rozen Maiden, I'd say it does get better once the antagonist is introduced (in episode 3 I believe), so maybe give it another couple of eps. Still, if you don't particularly like the main characters or setting so far, maybe it just isn't your kind of series. :dontknow:

I started watching Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle a while ago, but then I went on holiday and since I came back I haven't watched any more. I only watched the first couple of episodes after finding out that it was written by the same company as Chobits. I heard that Tsubasa gets quite confusing towards the end, is this true? I know I could just watch it but I have a really short attention span XD

The anime isn't great, in my opinion. And the manga, while awesome, does get very confusing towards the end. :p:

If you're interested in other anime based on works by CLAMP (the authors of Chobits), I'd recommend xxxHOLiC, Kobato, Angelic Layer or Magic Knight Rayearth.

Oh okay, that's sad to hear but at least it will save me some time! XD Thanks for the recommendations, which one out of those is your personal favourite? :3

yes you should, its pretty good

Just watched the first eight episodes and i'm hooked once again
I quite enjoy this type of genre to be fair
I decided to watch/re-watch all of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, both the '06 and the '09 episodes, in chronological order this time. I'm now on episode 20, so recently finished Endless Eight... and it wasn't THAT bad in my opinion. I'm sure it would be a different story if I was watching it as it aired, but being able to marathon it over a couple of days meant I could appreciate the small differences between each episode, knowing that I wouldn't have to wait two months for the start of the next arc. :p: Probably the worst part of the eight episodes was the anticlimactic conclusion, IMO.

One thing that I noticed while watching the 'old' episodes (Melancholy, Boredom, Mysterique Sign and Remote Island Syndrome), is that (while better than Endless Eight) they're not on the same level as other anime in my Top 50. I shouldn't be surprised really, as Haruhi Suzumiya was one of the first anime I watched that wasn't a generic harem show, so it stood out at a time when I was less critical, and has been propped up by nostalgia ever since. It's still fun to watch, but I may have to drop the first series a star unless the remaining (old) episodes impress me. :s:

I also recently started Candy Candy, which is amusing, even if the video quality leaves much to be desired. :giggle:

I didn't rewatch Endless Eight (technically at least, even if it felt like it :p:), this is my first time watching the 2009 episodes. I'm rewatching the 2006 episodes too because I like them, and because I might actually understand what's going on a bit better if I see everything in chronological order. :p:

A lot of series I've rewatched years later have lived up to my nostalgia - Haibane Renmei, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette and Last Exile were just as good as I remembered. I can't say Haruhi is on the same level as shows like those after rewatching it, though.

the time :p: and yeah it was pretty cool spotting those mini differences between each ep

ah cool fair enough  School Rumble and Fumoffu came close but that was it for me :hmmmm:

That champion road ova was so good.:coma: Much better than that film with the doctor, which was just more of the same except the antagonist was quite dull.:s:

New challenger however is bloody good.:teeth:
