Do guys go for plain looking girls because they are scared to go for the pretty ones?

Urgh, why is this thread being used to put down plain girls, and bump up the egos of pretty girls. It's all rather sickly if you ask me.

What's wrong with a bit of personality!

Nothing at all. Personality is just as important as looks, if not more so. However, although it is not an extreme rarity for guys to choose personality over looks, it is, sadly, unusual.

I agree with both these statements. I'd also like to add that yet again the onus seems to be on the guy to not only chase the girl but chase all girls, however they look, equally. If the girl is pretty and supposedly confident, as everyone makes out, then why doesn't she approach guys? You say 'the prettier ones' as if every guys has unanimity when it comes to these things. A 'plain' girl to my friend may look very pretty to me, and vice versa. There may be some truth in the intimidation factor as one of the reasons why guys don't ask a girl they find pretty out, but this isn't the only reason. They could just be shy in general. There isn't any point using this factor as the sole reason why 'pretty' girls seemingly don't have boyfriends, whereas 'plain' girls do. This in itself is quite a big assumption to make to say the least. A lot of people would disagree for one thing.
