Anyone else firmed for Comp Sci at Newcastle? I just firmed the other day for Comp Sci (Game Engineering).

Out of the 4 I applied for Newcastle is definitely the best for what I want. Don't know if I could put up with the Scouse accent personally haha (joking) but good luck with wherever you pick.

I've firmed Newcastle for Computer Science (Security and Resilience). Software Engineering at Lancaster is my insurance. See you all there :P

Awesome! Where have you picked for accommodation? I've put Castle Court for first choice and Windsor Terrace as second.

Victoria Halls as first and Windsor Terrace as second, was hard to choose a priority because Windsor is so nice. Castle Court was my third I think.

Are you going to firm it or is it going to be an insurance/declined?

I will accept it. Accepting an unconditional automatically rejects all other choices, there's no firm/insurance unless I was going to use it as an insurance.

Oops, it's late and I was skim reading, didn't realize you said unconditional. Congrats! Guess I'll also see you in September.

See you soon! Do you have your grades already? If not what's your offer?

Nope, although I'm 21 I did some other stuff before I started College so I'm a little late to Uni ha. My offer is for DDM (BTEC) which shouldn't be a problem to achieve (despite how much I hate my course).

I assume you already have your grades or are a mature student if you have an unconditional?

Accepted my conditional as a firm for Computer Science with Industrial Placement (G401)... i'd have also put Security & Resilience but it wasn't up on UCAS at the time I applied-.- heard you can change up till the start of the third year anyway, so no real issue:smile:

I think year 1 is pretty much the same for everyone, year 2 will change with different modules for people, then year 3 is where you specialise

I'll be bringing Windows and OS X. Never used Linux before.

Dual booting? Or two separate setups?

I've only got my gaming rig (albeit lacking behind the times a little now) so I need to invest in a decent laptop. Don't know whether to get a MacBook Pro or a (obviously much better value for money) custom high-spec windows laptop.
